PSAT Prep Books. Princeton Review vs Kaplan vs Barrons

What were your experiences with PSAT Prep Books?

I'm looking for push my score at least beyond 200 (It's currently 170).

My scores break down into the following.

63 - Math

56 - Critical Reading

51 - Writing

The reviews at Amazon weren't exactly helpful. From what I can tell Princeton Review and Kaplan are about the same (and new versions are set to come out in a few weeks), while the 12th Edition of Barrons was horrible (It's currently the 13th now).

Also Barrons has 6 Practice Tests, Princeton Review has 2 and Kaplan 3.

Any advice?

If you check past editions of Kaplan and PR, Kaplan wins slightly (some reviewers used both books). So, although I havn't used either of them, logic says to go with that one.

That's what I was thinking too. Plus the additional practice test couldn't hurt. I'll probably get one as soon as the new one comes out. Also should I stick with the PSAT version or try the SAT version?

I'd stick with the PSAT version since the tests are slightly different and I've heard that the Kaplan PSAT book treats the PSAT different (in a good way) than it treats the sat, as if it's a completely unrelated test.

Ok Thanks.

dont study for the psat...2000 wont get you national merit scholariship, and they really dont matter for anything but that

metfan, I'll be a Sophomore this October and I believe the National Merit Scholarship is in Junior year, so I'm trying to make incremental increases. If I can manage a jump from 170 - 200, then 200 - High 220s shouldn't be that hard with a lot of studying.

ah ok, fair enough

Any other opinions?

Bump...I won't bother you guys anymore (probably like last post on CC)
