PSAT prep for redesigned test?

Has anyone had any experience prepping for the PSAT using Khan Academy? Have you found its practice questions to be similar to those of the real test?
Also, what do you guys think of prep books like Barrons or Kaplan?
Thanks

Since no one has taken the real new PSAT test yet I doubt you’ll get an answer. I have one son that has completed the KhanAcademy prep. He and his brother are currently taking a local prep class, they say it’s harder than Khan. They are also tripping up on stupid silly mistakes and over thinking some of the math problems.

Khan is free and I think people are foolish to not do free prep recommended by the College Board. We won’t be using any general prep books like Barrons or Kaplan but will likely use books targeted to a specific areas like PWN the SAT Math and Erica Meltzer’s books. Just waiting for the revised editions for the PSAT. In the meantime we are following their blogs.

thanks for your reply!
Did you son have a good experience with the reading/writing prep on Khan Academy? I’ve been doing many of the practice problems and they seem a bit easier than the CB’s previous tests.
Though it could be because there’s no time pressure, I guess

I’m not sure if I would say easier, just different. I’m not a fan of those two part questions. I think you are right about them feeling easier without the time pressure. After you finish Khan you should take the practice PSAT under timed conditions.
