Should I take the PSAT/NMSQT again in 11th grade? I already took it in 10th grade and got a score of 1110 out of 1520. I didn’t really study for it and this year’s PSAT/NMSQT test is in about 1 week, but I probably won’t have time to study for it either. Is it worth it to sign up or should I just worry about the actual SAT?
Yes! The PSAT is important for juniors, because doing well can mean some merit aid from National Merit. (To be fair, there are some steps in between)
If you’re applying for scholarships and summer programs, the PSAT might be the only score you have on file by the time most apps are due (winter/early spring). The PSAT is also a really cheap way to take a modified version of the SAT (especially important if you’re taking Algebra 2 right now) in a testing setting without low scores counting against you.
