PSAT/SAT Prep?

I am a sophomore, and today I took the PSAT.

I know that I literally, got like every question wrong on the math part...
I got 3 wrong (tops) on the writing section
and like 8 wrong on the CR...if I go by the PSAT thread that's on here.

I see all of these prep books....but when I look at their publishing date, I'll see 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008... Does that matter? Could I get the Sparknotes prep books even though they're from 03-08? Don't the SATs change all the time?

Also, if I go by what I said above, what would my PSAT score be?

please… I am begging you guys… I am having a nervous breakdown here…

Anyone??? Please!!!

Be patient. It’s only been 14 minutes since you posted this topic. People will come and answer your questions. Don’t get all different versions of one book (eg. Princeton Review 2011 and 2012. They were exactly the same). Math is the easiest to improve on. Just buy the blue book by collegeboard and another supplements and solve the math problems. Eventually you’ll learn.

Yeah well now it’s been like 17 hours and you’re the only person who bothered to answer. What about Dr. Chung’s SAT Math?

I’ll definitely get the collegeboard book. What about the S.C.A.M by Sparknotes and the other series?

I really don’t understand how people can find CR + WR easier than Maths. For god’s sake, it’s middle school maths, and I can literally finish a 25 minute section is 10 minute tops…with revision!

But to address your problem, yes, most people recommend Dr. Chung’s. But honestly, all I ever did was solve practice tests, from CB, and I score above 700 consistently.

Sir… I suck at math…

I am a much better writer than I am a ‘mathematician.’ However, I still like to score well. My math score yesterday left me in tears.

I’ll check out Dr. Chung’s SAT Math and I’ll complete the Sparknotes/Collegeboard practice tests.

I took the Kaplan practice test and found the writing section to be significantly difficult in comparison to the actual PSAT.

I got the Dr.Chung book and I like it a lot. Though a lot of it is harder than what you actually have to know. It’s also good practice if you do math team  I’ve also heard Gruber’s is good for math.

Don’t worry math is my worst section too (everybody always thinks that’s weird because I’m in BC calc as a sophomore. But you don’t have to be good at math to be advanced. Does that make sense?). But I’m getting better. It’s ALL practice.

I’m just wondering how that was 17 hours… You posted 3 times within 19 minutes of each other. I consistently score 800s on math without Dr. Chungs. All I do is just learn from my (if any) mistakes on collegeboard practice tests.

Gruber’s is also good for Math.

Okay, first of all: you’re a sophomore. Stop stressing. Laugh it off.
Use the actual College board book. It will help you. And if you really want to use it, make sure you know what you’re doing wrong. Reason through it.

If you want to improve in CR, make sure the answer is stated in the text. The end.
Math should not be a problem if you’re past Algebra 3/4. Are you making stupid mistakes?

mascara-I’m in all honors except for math. I’m in Geometry :frowning:

I have the Kaplan 2012 premier PSAT Book and the Sparknotes Math Level 1 book

I left a lot of them blank, and just answered what I could. I guess on a couple of them, and all of the grid-in questions I got wrong.

What’s really stupid and frustrating is that my GC said he’s going to use my score to determine whether or not I can go into honors courses next year.

…I read that 580 is the 90% percentile for CR for sophomores and I’m sure I scored above that…and I probably got a 720 on the writing so…

Plus, I have a 96% in my honors English class, so I don’t see why he’d take me out. That would be so ridiculous. I can’t get any lower with math so I guess I’m not all that concerned. But I still like to do well!
