<p>If one takes PSAT as a Sophomore (Oct 2008), and SAT in October of Junior year (say 4 Oct 2009), does it make any sense to take PSAT again in October (say 15/18 Oct2009) of Junior year?</p>

<p>Yes because taking the PSAT your junior year qualifies you for the national merit competition.</p>

<p>In order to qualify for the National Merit competition, you have to take the PSAT as a junior. Taking it as a sophomore, no matter what your score, will not qualify you for the NM program (i.e., to become either commended or a semifinalist/finalist). So by all means, take the PSAT as a junior.</p>

<p>I meant for an international student ie. one who is not looking at NM.</p>

<p>In this case the only benefit for taking the PSAT in your junior year is just to give you more practice.</p>
