PSAT/SAT Stats

My sister soph.205, Jr. got 223 Sat 2190 in NJ. Hope it holds up for NMSF

Is the psat representative of what you will score on the sat?

Update: I got a 240 on the PSAT.

StudiousMaximus, wow, an impressive perfect score! I hear students get perfect ACT and SAT but rarely I hear perfect PSAT. Do you know if perfect score happens less offten in PSAT?
My junior son just got his PSAT score - 230 (77 CR, 76 math, 77 writing). I know it’s also impressive and am truely happy for him. But when he was studying for PSAT, I told him about the Xiggi’s Method and he refused to use it. In fact, he didn’t use any strategy. I just wonder if he could score even higher had he used the Xiggi’s strategy.

@4beardolls: I’m pretty sure perfect PSAT scores are more rare, primarily for three reasons: (1) the shorter PSAT gives less room for mistakes (-1 on M/W and -2 on CR are always <80); (2) students take the PSAT less seriously because it’s not as important as the SAT for college admissions (and one only has to pass a certain cutoff to achieve NMSF); and (3) there is no essay, so one’s writing score cannot be cushioned by a high essay score (in fact, I missed a writing question on my 2400 SAT).

I believe there are ~350 perfect SAT scorers a year but only ~100 perfect PSAT scorers a year; however, I can’t confirm the latter.

Sophomore PSAT: 218
Nov SAT: 2400
Junior PSAT: 229

Can’t say I’m happy about those PSAT scores, especially because I received them just a week after my SAT. I expected to do a little better, but it doesn’t bother me because I should be above the NJ cutoff.

Sophmore PSAT: 199
Junior PSAT: 220 ( yayyy  )
Junior SAT: 2190

Weird though, on the SAT I got a 660 in critical reading and on the PSAT I got an 80. Conversely, on the SAT I got a 770 in math and on the PSAT I got a 68.

Got a 221 on my soph PSAT this year.
Next year, hoping to score like 230+.

Freshman PSAT: 175 (lol no prep)
Sophomore PSAT: 204 (very little prep)
Junior PSAT: 226 (good amount of prep) :)

Hopefully my case shows you that with practice anything is possible and that the ability to perform highly on these types of tests is based little on actual intellect, but a keen understanding of the quirks of the test.

Sophomore PSAT: 197
October SAT (junior): 2260
Junior PSAT: 233
December SAT waiting.

Sophomore PSAT (No prep): 237
Haven’t taken anything else, although I’m planning to take the SAT in January.

7th grade SAT (very little prep, though I did do a math section or two to learn what to expect)- 1920
10th grade PSAT (0 prep)- 215
11th grade PSAT (lots of prep)- 236

I think I’m just going to skip the ACT and do the SAT since I’m pretty good at it. I took the PLAN last year and found it a bit more challenging (I don’t remember my score, though).

Disgruntled high school senior checking in.
I’m convinced test scores barely matter.

I ended up with a 2380/36.

Sophomore PSAT: 221
Junior PSAT: 230
I took the SAT/ACT once each.

I got a 222 (sophomore)! ^o^
For preparation, I didn’t do too much. I just have lots of vocabulary apps and games that I play a lot on my phone :D

Sent from my ADR6350 using CC

October PSAT: 73CR 68M 68W 209 Total
November SAT: 800CR 690M 730W 2220 Total

I’m in Maryland so I definitely do not qualify but I don’t really care… I forgot about PSAT a while ago and was overjoyed with my 800CR so I could honestly care less at this point. Had a terrible PSAT proctor and had to coordinate a bunch of student council stuff the morning of so it wasn’t a huge surprise though I expected to do better on the math and writing.

I freaked out on the math both times though. Which sucks because my math practice tests are 800s usually. Now that I’m exposed to it I think I’ll do much better on the Jan SAT.

Sophomore PSAT: 217
Junior I PSAT: 214
Junior II PSAT: 228

SAT Scores: 1740, 2120, 2350

I just practiced an entire summer. :)

Just got my PSAT scores back! 214: 68CR 76M 70W
I haven’t prepared at all since I took the PSAT’s cause I figured I can worry about it over the summer, but I am now considering on taking the SAT this year. Should I? What score will I probably get? THANKS!! (:

Update:
Sophomore PSAT (no prep): 237 (80M 80CR 77W)
Sophomore SAT (4 practice tests + some vocab for prep): 2250 (800M 730CR 720W)
I was pretty upset about my SAT results…ruined my Valentine’s Day, since I’m one of the few people who get WORSE on the SAT than the PSAT, and I even prepped a bit…If I had gotten one more question in CR and a 10 essay, I would have gotten 2340, but nope.

Hm, are we bumping this? Well anyways.

Soph PSAT: 218 (70 M, 72 R, 76 W)
Junior PSAT: 236 (76 M, 80 R, 80 W)

Actually, I just prepped Monday and Tuesday night before the test using Barron’s. No vocab prep, but I paid significant attention to writing rules. Math has always been a matter of careless errors for me haha.

Freshman PSAT: 201
Sophomore PSAT: 203
Junior PSAT: 209

Junior SAT (October): 2010
Junior SAT (March): ???

Wow I feel stupid.
