PSAT score-199 (ANY chance of making commeded scholar?

Posts 56-60, let’s not vear off topic of this thread. Please create another thread.

There is an error in my post #40 above with regard to CA. You’ll find the better analysis here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/national-merit-scholarships/1265245-psat-cutoff-4.html#post13909359

So… looks like the cutoff was 200 :frowning: Knew I was screwed the moment I opened up my score packet.

I live in California and the principal spoke to the students today who qualified for NM. Based on the upward trend of California’s cutoff (last year was at 221) I’m a bit anxious. I scored a 220. To the experts out there, what are my chances of becoming a semi finalist?

Also, what is the benefit of becoming a nm semi finalist or commended? If we don’t get scholarship money, do we still receive some sort of recognition?
Thanks

Does anyone have any information on the PSAT Index Score cutoffs for 2013? They should be out or out soon. Each state will have different cutoffs for Commended and NMF, if you get any info please post. Thanks

I think you have to wait until September. It’s such a long wait :P

Hi!
What do you mean by merit scholarship choices? Do you mean schools he got into or actual scholarships he was offered? thanks in advance.

I got a 205 on my PSAT, so does this mean I would only get commended?

You would definitely get commended but you could also get semifinalist depending on the state.
