PSAT score (freshman); good, bad? how to improve?

I'm not sure if this is the right section for this, and I'm new to CC so sorry in advance if I made a mistake!

Well I received my scores a while ago but just recently made an account here. I'd like to know if my scores are good or bad (9th grade), and tips on how to improve. :)

So my scores were:
CR - 66
Math - 74
Writing - 58

Index - 198, 96% percentile compared to juniors

I should've gotten 80 on the math but I bubbled/gridded wrong on two of the questions. /sighsighsighsigh/

I know my writing score is low and my reading isn't so hot either, how should I prepare for the test next year/junior year and improve those? Currently I've just been checking out random SAT/PSAT practice books and doing the daily SAT question of the day. Any suggestions?

9th grade? That’s excellent! As your percentile suggests, you did way better than most of the people (juniors) that I heard from. The best way to improve is probably doing practice tests from the Blue Book. SparkNotes also has a good grammar guide if you need a review.

Also, PSAT scores are generally lower than the real thing anyway, so don’t be discouraged (I got a 218 on the junior year PSAT but a 2400 on the real deal, so anything is possible lol.) Good luck! (:
