I took a practice test under real conditions recently. I ended up with a 170. I'm not too concerned about this since I'm only a sophmore. I'm not one of those obsessive people who's prepping like crazy for a test that they'll take next year. So, no snickers from the audience, please. But, I do want to know where I stand with my 170. I'll probably get around the same score in December. Again, this score has miniscule importance to me, but because it is the base for a good Jr. year PSAT score I am curious ;).

youre fine everywhere except the math (i would bet you score 700+ on reading & writing come SAT time). however, if you are not in geometry/alg2 yet than your score should go up considerably just by learning the material.

That's the scary thing about my math score. I'm actually in a junior honors math class, Pre-Calc. I've already seen the algebra needed for the PSATs last year.

What can I say...I suck at solving the type of problems on the test.

Even if you understand the material, the SAT tests how well of a test-taker you are... If you can learn the "strategies" and tricks to the SAT you score higher. That's the only reason why i took an SAT prep class...

Haha well sophomore year i barely new what the hell a PSAT was. My parents signed me up and the next thing i knew, i was there taking the test. I'm not quite sure how seriously i took it... anyway, the summer before junior year i took an SAT prep course. It ended in august and i didn't even pick up a book before the PSAT in october... then i bang out these fantastic scores. I guess i was just finally familiar with the test by that point.

That's good to know, koala. Math is my worst subject. It'll be a tragedy if I do well the Writing and Creative sections and bomb the math. ;) I'm not too worried, though. There's a lot of time for improvement after all I'm only a sophmore. I did a quick google search and found several good free websites that are a perfect study-help for the SATs. One I like in particular is http://www.satmathpro.com/ .
It's surprising how many free resources for the SATs there are online.

Sophomore year: 60 CR / 77 W / 76 M
Bulletin practice test: 72 CR / 80 W / 77 M

For writing, it was a matter of like two questions. For math it was a matter of different scales (one question wrong both times). For CR, it was [probably] a matter of Grammatix. =D
