PSAT Scores 2011

I took it on 10/12 - got my scores back today. So he should get it soon.
222 (69 CR, 77 M, 76 W). I’m in NY though, which usually has a high cutoff. Does anyone know the cut off rate for NY?

For the past four years: 217, 218, 219, 216. Congrats!

And could you post how many questions you missed on each section :)?

Hi everyone! Just got Saturday scores in MA. Super psyched and surprised by my score (232…NMS here I come!)

Here are my raw scores, in case it helps anyone still waiting for scores:
CR: 80: -1, 0 omitted
Math: 72: -2 mult choice, -1 grid-in, 0 omitted
Writing: 80: -0, 0 omitted

Not sure if I can see answers to all questions online or just those I missed, but if anyone has burning questions I can try to help! I will have my test book by Friday.

Good luck everyone!

Sweetchemistry, could you post all of the answers to the cr questions?

^ I second this. There were a lot of disputed questions after the test, and it would be great if someone, not necessarily sweetchemistry, but someone, would post an answer key of some sort for those of us who won’t get their tests back for a while.

Guys, don’t worry about it  Even if you didn’t do well, the worst case scenario is that you don’t qualify for NMS and you need to prep hard. It’s only meant to show you your weaknesses, and is in NO WAY an accurate projection of your scores. My tutor told me :P

CR: 73
Math: 72
Writing: 71
Total: 216

This is MUCH lower than my SAT score surprisingly.

Could the people who have received scores also post how many questions they got wrong? Especially for CR, I’m insanely curious as to how the curve ended up working out.

Thanks! Congratulations to everyone whose posted so far! :)

I need to lower my Writing score expectation. Apparently, -2 is 71 and -3 is 69. Ridiculous curve!

Enjoy!

@StudiousMaximus:

Yeah, and -1 = 76 >_<

I’m in the 99th percentile. Hope I make NMSF. Last time, the cutoff was 211–highest ever in my state–and I’m 213. It’ll be close. >_<

235, first time! I am beyond excited!

80 CR (-1)
80 M (-0)
75 W (-1)

I’m still wondering how -1 is a 75, but I’ll take it.

239… while in the state of Kentucky (NMS is typically ~208-212). I answered a Writing Skills question incorrectly because I couldn’t remember how to change the verb tenses for “to shrink,” so I hazarded a guess and - to heck with the modesty act!

I’M ECSTATIC!!! runs around in circles, squealing Not that I want to rub it in anyone’s faces, but this will make midterms next week so much more bearable!

Okay, back to homework… :(

^ If you got 1 writing question wrong and got a 239 (= 1 point off writing for 1 question wrong), and gman45 got a 235 with 1 writing question wrong (5 points off) then obviously 1 of you is lying or mistaken. I am inclined to believe gman, the writing curve is almost always pretty harsh.

Oh man, I’m so relieved! My Gifted Education teacher just told me my score from the principal… 223! I got a 177 Soph year… making my score a 46 point jump. I believe this is the highest score jump in my school’s history! I’m definitely NMSF, as I live in Kansas.

According to the tiny screen of my cell phone, I missed 1 question… However, the formatting is going crazy (i.e., the columns are seriously all over the place - and the touch screen scroll doesn’t help AT ALL) so it could have easily been a mathematics question.

However, I felt less sure with my answers on the writing section than when compared to the mathematics section, so I figured that my missed question was probably one of the ones I labored over when trying to figure out the “best” grammar of the sentence. The writing section definitely has a tougher curve, so now I’m leaning towards having missed a math question (probably a grid one) - oh, the horror! swoons

Once I get home and have the letter physically in my hands I’ll be sure to clarify, but I’m extremely satisfied either way with my score (which is a 239, according to the three e-mails I received from the college counselors/homeroom teacher and opened on my phone earlier).

Thanks for pointing out the possible (okay, probable) mistake, and congrats to everyone who survived this year’s round of PSATs - and good luck with NMS come next September, class of 2013 (FINALLY)!!!

How did you check the PSAT scores via phone?

I viewed them online through my school’s server (they update our online profiles automatically with the standardized test scores/GPA/etc. that the school receives) as I’m currently not in town, making this is my only way of knowing.

It’s weird when you have internet access but still can’t get a decent cell signal!

how come i got a 75 for CR -1 and others got 76? has this happened before in the past?

^ I wanted to know this too! I’ve seen some say they got a 75 and some 76 for -1 in Writing.
