I just got my scores back (California), got a 212. Would have been nice to be able to have the curve of some Midwestern states, but oh well, Commended is still a nice thing to have.

In SAT, Out of Critical Reading and Writing scores , which is MORE important for colleges?

Do both of them get the same weightage or is it true that Critical reading scores are given more importance?

For example,

Math 80 , CR 60, Writing 70
Math 80, CR 70, Writing 60

Typically how will the colleges view each of the above options and which is considered to be better?

thanks

I’m just a Sophomore, and I’m pretty pleased with my scores.

68(0) Critical Reading
57(0) Math (I didn’t learn it all yet XD)
73(0) Writings Skills

Overall, 198(0), and I didn’t study at all :3

Why has my school not given PSAT results back yet…?

^Just because. My school has yet to pass back results as well.

yay im a junior and i made the merit thing…freaking california with 219
224
CR 69 lol
M 80
W 75

Sophomore Year:

Math: 69
Reading: 67
Writing: 60

This Year:

Math: 80

Studying pays off A LOT

My son’s school won’t give the results until January-He’s in Florida.

Sophomore Year

Math-61
Reading-60
Writing-63

I have seen him study this year a lot, and taking AP classes.
hoping for a 30+ jump.

For those of you who received scores… Did you guys take the test on wed. or sat.? Im asking because i dont think my school has even received the scores yet and thought wed. scores might be mailed out first.

We got Saturday scores back last week. I had heard that they were mailing them out in batches. It also may have a lot to do with how many your counselor has to sort.

Sophomore scores:
CR-57
M-73
W-47
Total 177 (lol)

Junior Scores:
CR-73
M-72
W-64
T-209

Ohio’s cutoff has been 210, 211, 212, and 213 in recent years. I’m hoping for a huge drop this year! I messed up a math answer and put .91 instead of 9.1, which would have garnered me 4 more points to comfortably confirm me as Semi-finalist. At least I’m Commended, but I’ll just have to wait and see. Is a -3 point SI drop unheard of?

For Writing, did anyone get EXACTLY 1 wrong, no omits? If so, what was your Writing score?

(I got 2 wrong on that section, but only because I filled in a bubble wrong. So basically, I really should’ve only gotten 1 wrong. So I really want to know what I should’ve gotten.)

^Look at the curve.

My GC has over a thousand to sort through and we’re getting them Monday/Tuesday (my class is over 650, and most took it, and the sophomore class is over 700 and all of them have to take it).

^Where do I find this curve?

Here’s a link to the curves: http://professionals.collegeboard.com/profdownload/understanding-psat-nmsqt-scores.pdf

math - 80
writing - 79
reading - 73
232 composite

@Quick93, I got exactly one wrong in writing and no omits.

My daughter scored a 209, which equaled last years WI cutoff. I looked to see where her 209 equated to on a 2010 percentile scale. What I am looking for is a 2009 scale to see if last year’s was higher or lower? In 2010 98% went from 213 - 207. My idea is that if this year’s was higher or lower it would give some sort of idea if the curve will move up or down. Does that make sense.

Thanks

^The curve has already been decided and posted.

^Yes, but isn’t that the national curve? Isn’t it true that the state curve will determine the cut-off point?

let’s see.Out of a class of about 70 in my school, 3 240s, 10 or so 230+s. (I didn’t take it this year, I’m a senior).
