Really? I got 1 wrong and it was a 75.

Cephe1, are you sure you don't mean 75? I don't think CB has ever curved quite that heavily.

I am trying to figure out my chances for making National Merit Semifinalist. My score of 212 is in the 99th percentile. Does anyone have a lower score that is still in the 99th percentile? Does anyone know what scores are in the 98th percentile? I know I need to be in the 99.5th percentile of my state. I still have a chance since my state (AZ) tends to have a lower cutoff.

tquenn, semifinalist cutoffs are by state. The only percentile information available is national.

Our cutoff in az last year was 209, so you're in good shape!

I think son got 1 wrong on the math and omitted a free response and got a 74.

240 in MA. :)

Wow, I thought that was nearly impossible. :P I mean, you had to get an absolutely perfect raw score, right?

214 for me in PA. I really hope the cutoff doesn't jump up by two, because otherwise I wouldn't make it.

I realize the percentiles are national but I'm wondering if I am at the bottom of the 99th percentile (thus being less likely to be in th 99.5th percentile in my state). Like many of us with scores on the border I'll just to have to wait 'til August.

I think we have to wait until September. Names were released to press this past year on September 10th I believe.

219 for me. I really hope I make it. It will be close though :(

I got a 203 on the PSAT.
I think that means that I'm a merit winner thing too

^^NYSpinnerDan, if you are in NY, no chance for National Merit Scholarship, you should be commended however. (My son is in the same boat with a 206.)

211, canada

215, PA. i think i'll make it considering last year's cutoff was 213

NY. do SATs go towards the merit stuff or is it just purely PSAT?

You need to take the SAT to show that your PSAT scores correlate to your SAT scores for Finalist status I believe.

ok so i got a 234 on psat and then a 2370 on my sat.
so i'm good for finalist right?
hopefully?
lol

It will also depend on your grades and your school recommendation.
