Has this happened to anyone else? Last October (2017), our younger daughter in 9th grade took the PSAT at our local high school. She is home educated, but we have gone through this same testing process at the HS several times with her older sister, so we know the administrator, know the procedure, and have received all our scores as usual in previous years. However, this year, our younger daughter’s answer sheet and scores have VANISHED. The school administrator still has the test booklet, so we know she took the test. The school says they accounted for all the test answer sheets before shipping them to The College Board. Our older daughter took the test with her on the same day, and we received her scores as usual, first via e-mail and then in the U.S. Mail.
We have opened an inquiry with The College Board, and it was “elevated” to a supervisor. They say they have no record of younger daughter taking the test! The school is blaming The College Board, and TCB keeps pointing the finger at the high school. Any advice??
This sounds like a nightmare. Your daughter is positive that she turned it in? Any reason to believe sabotage could be the explanation? Enemies, administrators or fellow students who for whatever reason have an axe to grind? Is the older sister a Junior so took the NMSQT? The problem with these PSAT’s is that they are school-specific so the level of care and supervision over the pile of stuff being sent in to CB will obviously vary.
The booklet is proof she’s there. Hopefully she’s documented what she did to turn it in so that there is no question that she somehow scuttled the test.
Good luck on this!
PSAT in 9th grade is worthless, so I wouldn’t stress over it.
Take it again in Soph year.
Then in Junior year when it could actually mean something. It could quality you for the opening round of National Merit.
Update by OP, 8 months later… DD took the PSAT this past October (2018) as a 10th grader. Went on-line to check and see if her scores from two months ago had arrived yet. Guess what? Her 2017 score report was on-line!! We never received any notification that they were found, or that they were being sent. I’m glad they turned up!!! Now, if we can just get the scores from this year’s test without any issue…
