PSAT is on a 20-80 scale. SAT is on a 200-800 scale. I always multiplied the relevant PSAT score X 10 to get an approximate SAT score. Percentiles are nice, but I’m not convinced that schools look at the percentile numbers when evaluating SAT/SAT subject scores.

Son got very close to PSAT times 10.

My son got his PSAT scores in his homeroom at HS November 24th - the day before Thanksgiving. I think that’s the earliest they have distributed them.

DS, a sophomore, received his today in his homeroom. He just texted them to me. He’s close enough to the past state cutoffs for NMF that I’ll have him take some practice tests next summer.

Scores are available on the CB website.

I checked the CB website since we set up an account and DS still hasn’t gotten his scores from school. The website said: Not seeing this year’s PSAT/NMSQT ?
Enter the access code from your official paper score report. If you haven’t received your report yet, ask your counselor when it will be handed out at your school.

Oh, well. I was hoping that his 2009 scores would just pop up like shrinkrap’s did. Guess we have to wait for the report to be handed out.

Having same issue as seiclan. Only 2008 results are available, even when I click on 2009. I’m getting the same message to put in the access code.

I guess I will have to wait it out. I hate to bother the counselors right now-- because of the California budget crisis, they are really slammed this year (our school has less counselors, plus the number of students applying to privates this year has drastically increased because of the situation with UC and Cal State schools).

I had to call school for the code…Counselor said…“wow! great timing we just got the reports!”…I was like…umm…yeah!..what a coincidence!..NOT!

D1 PSAT scores jumped 30 points from Soph to Junior, her SAT jumps 10 points from Jan to Nov. So technically she jumps 40 points(PSAT) or 400 points(SAT) from Soph(no practice) to Junior(lots of practice). It pays to practice the format ahead.

I just tried using son’s access code from 2008, and got a message that it was not a valid code this for this year’s test. Also, scores will be available online without a code on February 1st.

CB did some maintenance on the site last night and I couldn’t get into My College Quickstart. This morning just by logging in, 2009 scores were there and no code was needed. Try again and see if you meet with success post website maint. Good Luck, I was quite surprised it worked for me this AM!

Just tried the college board website…no 2009 score report listed. Maybe they are still loading them. The site still says that I need the access code for the new test.

DS came home with PSAT scores today. He went down 5 points in CR (and left out 22 questions on that section). Good thing he is just a sophomore, we know what he needs to be tutored in for next year!

I’m the OP, back with another dumb question-- CB web site says I need the access code printed on the paper score report. Well, if I had the score report, why would I need to go online to find out the score? S did not take the PSAT last yr, so we are starting fresh. Why can’t we use the SSN to access the scores? Getting frustrated. No-- already there.

Exactly! S just heard from his homeroom teacher that the school probably won’t hand out the reports till January. Its very frustrating! For many families, this is their first taste of college testing, so I believe CB is trying to give the schools the chance to meet with the students and parents to go over the reports and explain what they mean. However, the reality at our big school is they are given to the students in homeroom, and the counselors NEVER meet with the kids or parents about the PSAT scores. And for those of us who know what the scores mean, the gatekeeping stuff is insulting.

Surprisingly DD#2 came home from school with her PSAT scores today. No announcements or anything but she and her friends saw a few kids with their scores, asked about them & were told the GC’s had them. They ran down & were given their score reports & booklets. DD#1 was surprised as they are usually given out in January during their English classes before they register for next year.

I was surprised that DD#2 was so anxious to get them, as we haven’t talked about them since she took them. But she is uber-competitive and her sis is NMSF so even though she’s a freshman she has a pretty good idea of what they mean. Too bad they don’t have a percentile breakdown for PSAT scores of freshmen :)

We got them from my D’s school yesterday. They waited until finals were over to mail them out.

From the OP-- S got his scores at school on 12/16. I’m not sure how good they are for a sophomore who isn’t expected to be NMS or NMF, buit he scored in 73%ile for juniors (this is with absolutely no prep whatsoever). I’m hoping he will do better next yr.
