<p>Are the PSAT scores really a good indicator of what your SAT scores will be?</p>

<p>in my experience, definitely no. a friend of mine went down 210 points out of the 1600 scale between the oct 18th psat and november 4th sat. i know many people, including myself, who went up well over 200 points from the oct 18th test. obviously i only personally know of a very small percentage of test takers, but it seems more often than not psats are considerably different than real sat scores.</p>

<p>Not at all. The ACT PLAN test is a much more accurate predictor in my experience. It said I would get between 26-30 my sophomore year, and I got a 31, so it was fairly accurate. That said, it gives you an estimate of how well you would do on that given day.</p>

<p>From personal experience, yes. I had a PSAT score of 207 (CR: 71, W: 72, M: 64) and, after taking the SAT twice, now have an SAT score of 2100 (CR: 710, W: 710, M: 680). If you do prep work for the SAT your scores will probably reflect that, but from what I've experienced I'd say that the PSAT is a pretty good predictor of what your SAT score without studying will be.</p>

<p>last year I got a 211 on my PSAT and i got a 2100 and a 2120 on my SAT in the next two months, so I guess it predicted my scores pretty well. </p>

<p>This year I got a 234 on my PSAT, so I'm really hoping it still predicts scores well...</p>

<p>As a junior I got a 2310 on my PSAT. Later that year I got a 2270 on my SAT. So yeah, it's a decent indicator.</p>

<p>For range, yes. But your score will still vary. Most people I know, if they did not take a prep course prior to the SAT, went down 50-100 points.</p>

<p>Yeah, my scores are with NO preparation for either test, so if you do some prep work I think it's even more accurate.</p>

<p>thankfully it was not a great indicator for me. i got a 188 on the PSAT (M:70, CR: 59, W:59). On my SAT i did over 200 points better!</p>

<p>eh, i would say the psat was much easier. i had no prep and was falling asleep allover the place and i got a 230 on the PSAT. I haven't gotten my SAT scores back but on all my practice tests even with more study I can't crack 2250.</p>

<p>what gets to you is the length which is twice as long as the psat.</p>

<p>Those of you who took the PSAT as a soph and again as a junior, how much did your score increase? Especially those of you with lower PSATs?</p>

<p>A friend of mine who took the October SAT and PSAT stated that the SAT was a cakewalk compared to the PSAT, so maybe the PSAT can be harder than the SAT in certain dates?</p>
