Is it true that you can find scholarship opportunities thanks to this? Does it matter if the student is high performer?
I advised my kids not to fill those in, it is just data mining. No email addresses or contact info either.

If your kid is going to fill it out, make a new email account just for all the marketing email from the colleges.
I can guarantee that if your kid completes this, you will receive tons of unsolicited mail and email about colleges…tons.
And there is no way to get off of this.
We created a new e-mail address that we just used for the College Board. It is filled with emails from colleges and keeps the primary email mailbox college free.
