PSAT top scorers get special mail??

TASP REJECT HERE, TOO! Ha ha.

I wrote all the essays on the day of postmark. I swore it would be everything I'd avoid with my college apps... Ha ha... I wrote my Harvard essay on November 1. LOLOLOLOL. And Stanford's deadline is coming up, and I still haven't started on those essays yet. Old habits die hard, huh.

To all those juniors who are definitely semis, what colleges have sent you mail recently?

I'm definitely commended, and I've gotten mail from U. of Montana and U. of Oregon.....lol. I've heard that a couple of people have gotten mail from Columbia, although I got that last year as a sophomore.

Modestmouse--HAHA OMG--I wrote everything on the postmark day too! Go us. Hopefully Harvard'll accept us, despite our TASP shortcomings.

well, i didn't get my score back, but i had a 198 last year, so lets hope it went up... anyway, this past week i got stuff from columbia and yale... so i hope that correlates to my actual score

bumpity bump, anyone else?

colleges start sending mail if you checked the box for the "college search" thing and you fall within their specified range of scores.

but semifinalists or commended students don't get any prior notification. commended letters come out in the spring of your junior year, and the semifinalist letters come out in early september of your senior year.

of course, you can always get a good sense of whether you've made it or not by comparing your scores to the previous year's cutoff...

i got some this week from...
columbia
university of evansville
swarthmore
andddd
u of chicago last week.

i get my scores back tommorrow and ive gotten NOTHING. any chance for seminifinalist?

It might depend on where you live or where you took the test- no one in my region has gotten much mail yet, but some people from around the country on this board have gotten a lot. There might just be a difference of a few days depending on how they sent them out.

where do you live? i live in virginia and i haven't received either my score or any college mails

i live in KS so maybe that has something to do with it. Harvard and Yale don't have any interest in me since all I can do is milk cows and harvest the crops

I got a 224, putting me in the 99th percentile (missing one math question drops me from an 80 to a 76, damn).

Haven't gotten a single piece of mail from anywhere.

I still think schools are sending stuff out from last year. I remember mine really didnt start coming in last year until january or feb. I havent even received my scores yet, but have not received much mail either(U of Chicago, Boston U, and Alabama LOL).

To the people who haven't gotten a lot of mail, did you agree to allow CB enter you in the StudentServiceSearch. If you got a high score and didn't get any mail, then may be college letters haven't come out yet for this PSAT.

I haven't gotten my PSAT scores yet either, but got three letters today all dated Dec 1: Columbia (ok) Illinois Wesleyan, and some Michigan school. (no thanks) I took the Plan test last year and right around the time the scores came out I got mail from 100+ schools full range Yale on down, and it has been pretty quiet up until now. So I think the PSAT scores are at the colleges.

My son got something from TASP (Telluride), plus two college mailings. The TASP thing came to the school counselor with his name on it. The college stuff came in the mail. He got his scores Friday, but the school had them Monday or Tuesday.

If your child is really into humanities, the TASP program is the best of the best. It is an extremely competitive and time consuming process to get accepted (if I remember, they take about 65 out of close to 900 applicants- and remember, almost everyone scored in the top 1-2% on the PSAT), but definitely worth all the work to get in according to my son, who is now a senior. I think it was life changing for him and an unparalleled opportunity. Plus it is FREE if you get selected. We only paid for airfare to Cornell- but if that is an issue, they even will take care of that.

Thanks Shutterbug. My son is a sophomore. Do you know anything about the sophomore year program (TASS)? And he's really more of a math/science guy, but a couple of the junior (TASP) programs looked very interesting to him.

I don't know anything about the soph. program , except I think it is geared toward African American studies.
