PSAT vs. SAT

I have taken the PSAT twice and the SAT twice, however the first time was in the seventh grade and I am waiting on my scores from the second time. I had a 211 on the PSAT but I hope and feel that I did better than the comparable 2110. I am interested to know how your PSAT scores compare to your SAT scores so please post both.

they correlate highly, k:

236 80 CR 80 M 76W

2320 770 CR 790M 760W (12 essay, 71 MC)

Remember that someone can have their scores fluctuate quite on different SATs, if your SAT scores don't come close to your PSAT, my advice is to retake.

i think PSAT scores underpredict SAT scores

i took the PSAT twice and got 192 and 196, but got 2180 on the SAT

remember, the last time you took the PSAT's was a year ago. So your scores are probably higher than the 211.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=52299&highlight=PapaChicken

Data to make you go crazy nuts and say "Well, according to PapaChicken the variance is blah blah..."

Math scores tend to go up because they have the same # of grid-ins, which is where most people mess up, but they count less because of the larger # of overall math questions on the SAT.

PSAT --> PSAT --> SAT ONE --> SAT ONE

Here's how mine played out:

188-->199-->2080-->2160 i like this trend hehe..im definetly done with these gay sats

I forgot what my writing scores were on the psat, so I will just do a cr+m trend.

PSAT 2003........1180 ?????
PSAT 2004........1260 M680 CR580
SAT March 2005.1340 M710 CR630
SAT May 2005....1480 M800 CR680

my psat and sat werent very much alike
PSAT 183
SAT 2100

it also depends on how much you prepare...

but i think that prep aside, there are huge disparities between SAT scores, and the sat is the same test.

PSAT: 204
First SAT: 1940
Second SAT: 2170

(ACT 33 for comparison)

I didn't prepare at all for the PSAT. I had no idea what to expect, and I actually had to read directions on test day. Then I prepared for the SAT, and after taking it the first time prepared some more.

PSAT 192
1st SAT 2280
2nd SAT 2360

Here's my trend

PSAT soph: 189
PSAT junior: 181
SAT I, march 2005: 2030
SAT I, june 2005, 2180

haha... weird how that worked out... i went DOWN on PSAT from sophmore to junior year... but it worked out in the end with the 2180

The SAT matters more than PSAT....right?

Of course the SATs matter more. Colleges never even see your PSAT scores. They will only know if you got National Merit or not.

This sucks for my friend who got 237 PSAT and then 2180 best combined SAT.

Wow, how did that happen?

Good thing, because I failed the PSAT this year :(
237 PSAT and 2180 SAT ?????

I don't know how it happened. He didn't study for the SAT, at least the first time he took it, and got 2070. Then he did some prep and ended up with a 2180 composite. The CR killed him. The funny thing is that our situations switched. I ended up with a 2370 SAT composite to match his 237 PSAT score.

I had a 1760 PSAT, then an 1840 SAT, then a 1990 SAT.

So my results did not correlate.

psat 217
sat 213
sat 203
sat ??
