PSAT: Wednesday vs. Saturday

<p>Nobody in our area gives the PSAT on Saturday. I checked dozens of schools on the College Board website, looking for a Saturday site because my ds has a conflict on that Wednesday. Couldn't find a single one. So I called the College Board and asked if any school within 50-100 miles of our zip code was offering the test on Saturday. Nada.</p>

<p>What's it like in other areas? Is Wednesday the favored day everywhere? Has anyone else had trouble finding a Saturday site?</p>

<p>I live in the metro NYC area and the tests are given on Saturday, not Wednesday.</p>

<p>Always been Wednesday in our area. Is your D a junior? If not, just don't take the PSAT. Prep in other ways.</p>

<p>We are in NY suburbs and PSAT is on Saturday here.</p>

<p>In Houston, it seems that the private schools give the PSAT on Wednesday to the students and it is offered at local public schools throughout Houston on Sat.</p>

<p>Wednesday here in the Philadelphia suburbs, and it's given to all 10th and 11th graders.</p>

<p>In the Cleveland, OH, area, it varies by school district.</p>

<p>The typical day of the week here in the suburban Twin Cities is Wednesday.</p>

<p>Phila, kids found schools that did either day.</p>

<p>Seattle area - can find schools for either day also.</p>

<p>Our schools administer it Wednesday, but there are always nearby Saturday sites as well. Last year, band had an out-of-town Tuesday night contest, and so many opted for the Saturday administration.</p>

<p>As pp poster said, PSAT is totally optional. But if you think your child has a shot at NM recognition, there apparently is an alternative. Just yesterday, on the SAT/ACT forum, I read about an option to take the SAT within eight months and being able to use that score for NM recognition. Might look into that ...</p>

<p>Our school has PSATs on Saturday - but the MArching Band & Fall Sports kids take a bus to a local private school on Wed to take the test.</p>
