PSAT?!?! why?

Why do people take the PSAT? Is it important?
Is it better to take it sophomore or junior year?

Thanks for all your help

take it both
sophomore year for practice
and junior year to possibly qualify for national merit

At my school, it was free as a sophomore and only $13 as a junior (and above that, I qualified for a waiver). Why not take it? Practice has never hurt anyone.

People take the PSAT because it accurately predicts an individual’s SAT score (unless you study btwn the PSAT & the SAT, then you probably will notice a change). I would recommend that you do it BOTH years because your performance your Junior year is very important, and if you take it Sophomore year, you will become familiar with the test’s format.

I would study for the PSAT if I were you, b/c it will help you enormously

National Merit Semifinalist? idk

yeah, my parents want me to take it sophomore year so i’d study over the summer
what does it do? it’s not like i can just take the SAT without prep afterwards
