PSAT writing questions!!!!

how was writing in general for ya’ll?

it was a lot less tricky than the kaplan practice tests.
i probably didnt miss too many.

i finished 15 minutes early, checked everything… nothing was difficult enough to remember.. :(

the Rome question answer was no error… colon use was correct

yeah, I tend to finish writing a little too fast as well.

yea but i’m confident on the writing… i got a 74 or 79 last year…

wow, good for you! ^^ I think writing is pretty much “you know it or you don’t”.

Yeah, I was pretty torn on the Rome one. The “; still, in” choice didn’t really make sense because of the “still,” so I kept the colon.

For the question about Woodsworth, did the “too hastily decided” or whatever sound weird to anyone?

I said too hastily decided was weird. I think it was a misplaced modifier. And I kept the colon (I think)

i rely on intuition for the writing section. i have friends who use a “formulaic” approach, but if I did that it would take too long.

what’s too hastily decided? i forgot that Q

I rely on intuition first, reading the sentence out loud in my head, which spots mistakes the fastest. But then I go back and look at specific grammar parts of each choice if i cant find anything wrong. That was my mistake last year. i got way too many E’s because i just went by feel. I got 68 last year, but it seemed i was unsure every other question. This year i did some preparation and i felt alot more confident.

Also, for the question with the big space between the colon, i left it as it was with the colon.

I thought the colon one was wrong for some reason. It just didn’t seem right =/

i left colon also

For the insert before sentence 5, what did you guys put and what were the choices? (I forgot)

what was that passage even about lol

The poem thing

I think I put like However, the poetry slam looked as thought it would not be a dull moment.

I really dont remember the sentence or the choices I just remember choosing a word like “however” (idk if that was even an option)

Yeah, i put the option with “however”.

yeah, i put that too. Do you guys remember the first question? What would fit between sentence 1 and 2? I put like: even though some people might not enjoy poetry, they might enjoy listening to it … I wasn’t sure, it could have been something about the Festival, but I thought it might have been a little too redundent to say that Festival thing in the next sentence again.

It was something about it being his first time. It wasnt your answer, because the author specifically stated that he enjoyed poetry, but not listening to it.
