I got a 190 this year (67 math, 54 CR, and 69 writing) this year. However, due to the fact that I'm living in Mississippi, I need a 205-209 by October. What are the chances that my score will go up to 207? I'm most definitely going to aim for a 78 writing if at all possible so to maximize my potential. Any suggestions or input would be gladly taken.

Thanks.

It depends -- did you prep for your first PSAT score? My son scored 195 as a sophomore, and then prepped a little before he took it junior year, and got a 214.

yes, I did prepare for that 190.

Question about the PSAT: Hypothetically, suppose I get 55/80/80 (215 total) and the cutoff for my state is 215. Will I become semifinalist even though one section is significantly worse than the rest?

Yes you will. They only look to see if your total score is equal to or above the cutoff score.
