Hello. I was just wondering if any of you think I should study for the PSAT I am going to take in like a week. I am sophmore now, and I know I will not even be able to qualify since I have to be a senior for the NMQST. Do you think i should study, and will colleges see my grade?

well to be qualify you need be a junior, not sophomore and colleges dont usually know about your PSAT if you were a qualifier.

wat about the studying part?

Definitely don't study as a sophomore. It's just a waste of time. The whole point is to gauge where your strengths and weaknesses are. I would study a little for the PSAT in junior year, when you can actually become a National Merit Scholar, but sophomore year there is no benefit in doing well on the test, so why waste your time?

Just an opinion...Definitely read the information and the practice test they give you so you'll understand the format of the test, how they score it, etc. Don't study as a sophomore to see what parts you're strong in and which parts need extra work. Study the summer and/or fall before your Junior year PSAT. The above poster is right, though you get NM designation as a senior, it's when you take it fall of Junior year that qualifies you. Good luck, and don't sweat it this year, it's just to get you used to testing and give you some idea where you stand.

crossposted with admanrich, pretty much the same opinions.

that would be my suggestion as well, learn the format, ie, do one practice test, but don't study as a sophmore, the score is meaningless to anyone but the test taker in that grade, and it will help you determine what you need or want to work on
