Psat

hi,

I just got back my PSAT, and I got a 670 in CR, 730 in math (which = 1400 old :D ), but I also got only a 47 in writing :( . I honestly have no idea how that happened, but what will schools think when I show them this?

I'm interested so far in:
-University of Washington
-WUSTL
-Northwestern (ED)
-Michigan
-University of Oregon
-University of Notre Dame

So will I pretty much get rejected from these schools (which are my reaches except UW and UO) since my writing section is bad despite my decent old SAT score?

Also, I got 92% overall. Is that decent?

thanks in advance

92% is more than decent considering you're being compared against the whole nation. and honestly, PSAT's don't matter at all in the college admissions process - they're only for scholarships, which practically no one gets b/c you have to at least get around 2300+ to get past the semi-finalist round. what you CAN do is show an early interest in the schools you're looking to apply to.. if you're a semi-finalist, add Northwestern if you're earlying there and another school you really want to go to to the recipients' list so they can receive these scores, showing your enthusiasm and dedication for their school even in junior year

Are you talking PSAT or SAT?? The PSAT will really only matter for the National Merit money. The schools may use these schores to mail you junkmail, but you hven't applied to any of these schools (I gather you re a junior) so they have no file on you. If these are your PSATs. Don't worry about it. Study study study and do well on the SATs and your finals.
