<p>What are the average PSAT scores of semi finalists and finalists? I know it varies by state but I was just wondering what people were getting?</p>

Also do we have to take the SAT and make a certain score to advance or is it more just to make sure that your PSAT wasn't a fluke?</p>

<p>There are no 'finalist' cutoffs. Once you are a semifinalist, you are automatically considered for finalist status and are quite likely statistically to attain taht status.
And there is no 'requirement' or strict SAT cutoff. However, if you score say an 1800 on your SAT's, dont be surprised if you dont become a finalist.</p>

<p>Actually, last year you had to make a combined MV of 1300 to be considered for Finalist. You also had to make a certain composite on the Writing but I forgot what the National Merit office told me.</p>
