PSM at Rice (US) v. MRes at Bristol (UK)

I was a geology major in college, and would like to pursue a career in the field. I've been accepted to the Professional Master's Program (PSM) for Environmental Analysis and Decision Making at Rice University and the Master's of Research (MRes) in Natural Hazards at University of Bristol in the UK. The PSM is an applied Master's with a very good job placement rate, it also seems that several students have gone on to do a PhD from this program. With the MRes, I am not as sure about job placement, particularly in the US, but it seems like it could be a better option if I am leaning towards pursuing a PhD. I have several questions 1) Is Bristol as reputable as Rice in the US for earth sciences -- both in terms of PhD admission, but also in terms of jobs.

The research for the MRes would be really fascinating and it incorporates many aspects of my academic history, whereas Rice is a very well-rounded program that I would walk away from with many skills and a wide knowledge base -- especially in fields where I have little to no background (e.g. bio, chem).

anyone – please help! I appreciate anyone’s two cents! I need to make a decision soon!

Rice, US schools are far superior than British ones.

********.

It depends on what you want to do afterwards and in what country. Also, *** does that Rice degree title even mean? The Bristol one has a clear career field and application. The Rice one sounds like a bad attempt at an MBA. I would look at recruiting at both programs, funding options, and contact a current student or two.

Not to mention, BJ, why didn’t your superior US school teach you proper grammar?
