Yeah, they couldn't wait to get the bad news to me! Must have hopped on the first plane out of Atlanta!

who wants to start posting stats lol? :S

Didn't make the cut either. Guess I'm like bandnerd in saying I won't be going...

So is your main reason for writing off GT now that you didn't get enough money to go, or enough recognition?

^A bit of both to be honest. I'm still waiting on a bunch of other schools. But what's the point in going to a public school for at least 36 a year when I've already got great offers? It would be entirely different if I was instate.

It's all money. I needed the scholarship to consider GT(it was third on my list, but I was really interested in the Polymer Engr. major). If I were able to pay to go to school, it would be Emory, definitely. But we are neither very rich or very poor, so we are in that no money land.

Just got the letter. Count me out, too. Definitely a money issue. Stuck in the middle class limbo like bandnerd and johnson. GT was definitely in my top three (probably top two), but in-state U's offer is too good to pass up.

Good luck to whoever is still in the running!

wow.

now i'm super nervous about this.

Sorry to hear it Almagetty! I will probably end up at A&M and am really happy with that anyway! They are missing out on a lot of talent here! lilshamz, I hope it is good news for you! I think TX just had way too many finalists here.

Thanks Bandnerd. I also think that the loss is definitely GA Tech's. We will all do extremely well wherever we go! I am also really happy with my other two top choices. It'll be great!!

Lilshamz: I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Both you and Bandnerd were the ones who kept this thread going this whole time! I really hope you get it.

I just got an email telling me I'm on the waitlist for the scholarships.

Hey I'm one of the 21 people on the waitlist too...

Yay waitlist.

are you going to accept your spot on the wait list?

yeah, i told him i would. if 10/20 people really did get it last year, then chances are alright, and i guess in the end i could always still turn it down if i decided i didn't want to go.

just got the PSP letter today.

not a finalist.

lilshamz, that's lame. Sorry to hear you didn't make it. I was doubly depressed to see that they had a waitlist and I didn't make that either. Does that knock GT out for you?

no it doesn't.

if some other medical programs dont work out i'll be at GT. Yeah its upsetting but its okay because from the stats they provided this was an ultra competitive pool of applicants, so oh well. But at least making to to semi-finalist status illustrates that we would be among the top students at GT.

good luck to anyone whos still waiting!!

Yeah, the semifinalists in 2006 who went to GT averaged about 3.6 during freshman year (with over 20% earning 4.0s), compared to about 2.8-2.9 for all freshmen. So you can expect to do well if you apply yourself!

sweet.

good to hear. thanks GPBurdell!
