PSP Interview

Any tips for the interview? What kind of questions do they ask? My interview is on Thursday.

Same question. My daughter's interview is next Saturday.

The first round interview?

This is her first, and only, interview before she finds out if she's a PSP finalist in a couple of weeks.

The questions were standard fare. Why GT, what department, what do you do for fun, where do you see yourself...
Not to hijack, but when do we find out if we are finalists/get the next interview?

The GA Tech web site says that letters are sent to all semifinalists in early February to notify them of their status. I believe I saw somewhere that we will know no later than February 3rd.

For some reason I had it in my mind that it was Feb. 13th for notification, but now when I look at the flow chart on the site it says "early Feb. notification." D has her interview Sat., got moved from last week. She just laid out her outfit for tomorrow. Worried much, nah! LOL

zebes

Ok, thanks. Any weird, abstract questions I should be prepared for? This is my first college-related interview.

the weirdest one to me was what kind of problems do your friends come to you with. I decided to botch the question and talk about physics and essays rather than divulge personal problems of my friends...though that's pretty clearly what they wanted.

I just interviewed and didn't have that question.

Also, I don't feel like it would improve my chances of getting it at all if I shared the questions I had with you, so yeah (:

Whether or not you're willing to help another prospective psp does present an interesting piece of game theory. I've always wanted to study the stuff.
If m people compete for n prizes (jobs, etc), what proportion would be willing to help the others? And, more qualitatively, how much would they be willing to help? Different values of prizes? Etc.

Yeah, game theory does seem like a really interesting thing to study. And about the PSP interview, the questions I had were not bad at all. I can't really give precise questions or examples because the ones I was asked seemed to be more spontaneous than prepared.

I just had my interview. Somewhat typical questions :D

if you guys don't mind, could you post your SAT scores, GPA, and anything else that may have helped you get an interview?

every semifinalist is interviewed.

for my stats

into what?...

I mistyped Chance as Change on my title and never changed it :P

Emailed by PSP today saying that semi-finalists will be notified by 2/3. By 2/3, does that mean earlier is possible? Or is someone not being precise, and they really mean on 2/3? Anyone from last year know this?

My daughter received the same email this morning.

I guess it all depends on when they finish selecting all of the finalists. We're shooting for this weekend.
