PSU BA/MD program?

i didnt hear back yet....im gettin worried whats the actual date of the interview

rejected. blah!

is there more than one interview on that day, like a med school one??

Does anyone know what types of questions they are going to be asking? Seriously, the interview is in a week, and I know I need to prepare at least a little, but I don't know how =(.

If anyone could just list a bunch of possible questions I would be sooo glad.

email says there are 2 - one with student and one with med school

there's only one interview date, and that's feb 13. I'm getting really nervous for it now...this is my top choice program

does anyone know if the ba/md interview is totally different or very similar to the premed regular ones?

does anyone know what to bring to the interview?

Guys, don't freak out too much over the interviews. As you know, there are two interviews, one with a staff member from the medical school and another with a med student. The med student interview felt more like a lunch date than anything else.

She asked me why I wanted to come to NU, what I like about HPME and simple, small stuff like that. I, in return, was able to ask her about some of the nuances of the program -- study abroad, taking a fourth year, and so on.

The interview with the physician was a bit strange. I walked away thinking I just had the worst interview of my life. The doctor gave me around 15 minutes before he left. He asked what my experience in the medical field was, why I was so interested in becoming a doctor, and why I chose to apply to Northwestern. We didn't carry out a dialog as in the other interview. It was just short question followed by my long answer. At the end he thanked me and said he had to go see some patients and left.

But I ended up getting in!

@wins22: They should have sent you a packet/letter with that information in it If you don't have it in your papers, call the office and ask either Jason Palmer or Dr. Marianne Green.

-Shamazing?!
Shamazing?! -- College Student's Blog

Yes, i did receive a packet but it didn't specify what to bring. btw I did call them and they told me I didn't need to bring anything...

I was kind of freaking out cause one of my other interviews required like a CV and stuff, and i wasnt sure if this one required it.

Thanks though

The only problem is that you posted in the wrong thread lol.

since the weather is **** in philly and i cant fly in, in there anyway they might could reschedule the interview? im sure im not the only one in this boat...

Will anyone in the program or someone knowledgeable let me know of my realistic chance of getting into the Penn State 6/7 year med program?

I am currently a high school junior. My rank is 19/188. It should be number 12 or 13 by the end of this year. I am in the IB diploma program too. My gpa will be a 3.66, and 4.1ish weighted. I haven't taken the SATs but lets say I get a 2200 out of 2400 on it. (1450+ M/CR). and say that I get a over a 700 on each subject test (chemistry, biology, and math). Also on the website, they are going to consider writing sections as well for the incoming class of 2009.

I am volunteering at a hospital all summer long, I will be the senior class president, I was a Relay for Life committee member in 9th grade, Relay co-exec leader last year, and have my own team this year. I am in Blue/Gold (community service), Project Night Night (community service) , Relay for Life, Yearbook, Newspaper, Kick Butts Generation (anti-tobacco), National Honor Society (junior representative), a high school peace group, and I played soccer for three years, volleyball for two years.

Realistically what are my chances of getting in? I really want to prove that despite my not so high gpa of a 3.66, that I can still excel in the program! I live in Delaware, and really want to get into this program! Please let me know, I'm going to be applying this fall.

they're basically taking kids to interview whom they believe are ivy league quality. So if you think you can gain admission to one, don't worry. Don't get discouraged though, i believe they rely heavily on the SAT too (my gpa wasn't that great but i got an interview). Aim for a 2300+

ok my stats: 1540 sat, middle third of my highschool

yes, that puts me at 33% at best.
probably in the 40's maybe.

although i go to a pretty good highschool, i rank low and still got an interview.

moral of the story: psu cares about sat scores for the interviews.

how were other peoples interviews this week btw?

someone ought to make a facebook group for everyone who was at the psu ba/md interview!
you could call it "psu ba/md progs"..or maybe "indian nerds unite!" ;)

hey for this program did we have to send in a mid year report?
i coudlnt find one anywhere on the psu site

does anyone know when we find outtt about decisions
im wickiddddd
excited to hear
!!

like in 3 or 4 weeks

what about mid year reports/ final marks?
do we need to send those in?!?!?

Hey, just to let you all know, I'm in the program and I am actually taking a class with the program advisor, Dr. Markle. Another friend of mine, also in the class, talked to him and found out that they would be making final decisions regarding the program over spring break, this coming week. I would expect those letters in the next one week or so. :)
