let's go State!

Name: Amanda
From: Illinois
Major: Communications (Ad/PR)
Dorms: South (i hope)
IM: gooseyluci43

dan-my brother is currently a soph in Aerospace, lives in the honors dorms and loves it

Hey Amanda,
Can you tell me about the honors dorms? What's good about them? Also, how does your brother like the engineering program there?

Well the dorms are close to College Ave, which is great because there are tons of things there. It's a bit of a walk to Beaver Stadium, and some classes are far away, but I found that it was worth it. The dorms are pretty close to the engineering buildings, so it's not too bad.

As for the rooms, he lives in Simmons and got extemely lucky to have a corner room. It's has a walk-in closet, 2 windows, and extra space. The other rooms are typical PSU-like, but they're still pretty nice. The rooms are as small as you make them...there are so many options with lofting and where you put things, so it shouldn't be too bad.

Simmons has a dining hall on the bottom floor, which is very convenient. Redifer (the newer dining hall) is a close walk, and it's a great option if you get sick of the normal food.

The honors program itself is great. They do things together, and it's a real easy way to get friends right away. I know they just had their Spring Formal dance a few weeks ago too. If you're worried about it being "too nerdy," it's really not. Most people are just more motivated than if you were living somewhere else. they still have fun, don't worry.

From what I've heard, my brother is enjoying the program a lot. He's taking a lot of classes for his major already, so if you have some AP credits, you won't have to wait to get started.

If you have any other questions that I can answer, feel free to ask!

Hey, I noticed that your brother seems to be carrying out exactly what I may experience in the next couple of years. I was wondering if he would want to talk with me for a few mins on aim or via email or something so I can get a feel for what it's like. Either way, thanks for the info.

I visited it a couple of days ago and loved it. Its not nearly as big as everyone makes it out to be.
