PSU Class of 2018 Admission Decision Thread

@eaglesfan116 - Hard to tell. Sometimes it feels like its in batches by college but then I have seen where people whose status changed last Thursday all updated on either late afternoon Friday or midnight ish Saturday AM. Two were at the same time Friday afternoon (1 Engineering, 1 DUS). I agree with previous poster it’s in batches just can’t sort the category out.

@Nicolee22 - My D applied DUS so will hopefully be able to answer you shortly.

I have not seen of or heard of people who applied directly to summer receiving their decisions yet. Maybe a handful but not too many. Does this seem accurate? I keep refreshing every 20 minutes at this point…

@eagle I applied directly to summer, haven’t heard back yet but my picture changed so it is what it is.

@vibsOveebs what did your picture change to? Did your picture change when your status changed?

My status changed to “coming days” on Thursday. I was notified on Friday evening around the time the admissions office closed. (5:00 pm)

@David summer session is HUGE. Summer session is for the applicants who are borderline but have the potential. I knew my test scores were lower than average so that’s the only reason I’m doing summer session. Ask for summer session if you’re willing to partake in it during the summer to gain acceptance

@eaglesfan I’m banking on you getting in

My sons picture changed to Altoona and “coming days” 5 min ago.

A large majority of people who have heard back from university park for main campus have been denied. I just started hearing if acceptances this weekend along with mine. Stay hopeful and faithful people. I’m also hearing that Jan. 31 is it for UP acceptances? May be a myth?

I have a 3.4 and a 1700 SAT, do you think I would be good for summer since UP middle 50 for fall is a 3.5-3.9 and sat starts at 1730? Like I put down fall but said I would be willing to do the summer session too

I meant main campus for SUMMER SESSION*** sorry

@Nicole if you are denied, make sure you reiterate that you are willing to do summer session. Has your status updated yet?

@eagle Yes it changed for the first time friday when I got the comming days status. It changed to penn state Brandywine.

@eagle, my son’s changed on Thursday, from university park to altoona.

@eaglesfan…my son applied directly for UP summer in engineering and his status changed today to coming days and Altoona picture. He had 1790 SAT, 3.5 GPA and Eagle Scout. Also, 3 relatives as alumni and his sister is there now.

@psugrad, that is very upsetting to hear. If your son can’t get in with alumni, high SAT and great GPA, i don’t know if my son has a chance.

My D changed on Friday to Altoona. She is very upset :(

@longwait-Altoona may be where he is supposed to be. I am OK with it. He’s been offered a great deal to attend WV in engineering. It will cost the same or less than psu as an out of state student. I love Penn State, but it’s the most expensive state sponsored school in the nation! It will be his choice. We’re going to wait for the status update, but it seems once the picture changes, that’s the offer. Altoona is very close to UP.

Engineering is extremely competitive at penn state. a lot of the people I see accepted to engineering for Fall @ UP have >3.7 GPA and >1900 SAT. my one friend got accepted a couple weeks ago to summer with a 4.1 and 1690 which surprised me because that’s pretty low for main campus

I’m actually quite nervous now. I checked the site on Friday evening around midnight, maybe a bit later, and that’s when I got the “coming days” status change. However, my picture stayed as University Park. I’ve noticed quite a few people who got the “coming days” message on Friday have also had their picture changed to an alternate campus. The anxiety is killing me now. I just want to know!

If you’re wondering, I applied to UP with summer session as an option.
My alternate is Harrisburg, so we’ll see what happens!

GPA UW: 3.83 (Might be higher because of Penn State’s grading scale. A 91 is considered a B+ at my school)
SAT: 1750 (Low score is what I’m worried about)
