I applied the last week of October, because I wasn’t sure I’d get in. But I accepted my offer of admission the same day I received the letter in the mail… November 7th. I’m so glad they decided to give me a chance! I won’t disappoint!

Wow congrats you deserve it. It shows that scores aren’t everything. You will do great. Hopefully we can all afford it those of us oos. ; :-S

Accepted into Smeal!

Can a change in intended major lead to change in campus? Can you even change your intended major after getting accepted?

Or at least tell me everything you know about Penn State Altoona. I want to ensure that I’m not making a mistake by deciding to apply there.

Alright, I’ve decided that I want to change my major from Economics to Computer Science. I have already been accepted at Altoona. Can I still do it?

@hihello100

Congrats! What was your stats? And did you apply regular or priority? If you don’t mind answering.

Did anyone who applied to Smeal RD get in yet? If so, a response with your stats would help.

General Comments: I am so excited! This is my first choice! :D

Will anyone please answer my questions? You can find them three or four posts before this one.

Your major is not official until something called “entrance to major” which happens, generally, the spring of your sophomore year/4th semester. before that, your tentative major choice is used to help you choose courses that are appropriate in sequence and interest, but mostly you will be taking GenEds and BA/BS general requirements. So yes, you can change your major pretty easily, assuming you have the gpa and any other requirements in line.

It is unlikely that a change of major would change you from Altoona to UP, particularly this late. Altoona is a small city, with the PSU campus on one side. The campus is small, with very limited housing (although there are apartments for rent all around the campus). Many of the students are commuting.

JUST GOT ACCEPTED TODAY AH AH SO EXCITED

Location/Person:

Ethnicity: white
Gender: female

Other Factors: I had really strong EC’s, I know psu doesn’t look at them too much but they only could have helped
General Comments: Accepted into the college of health and human development for athletic training. I honestly didn’t think I was gonna get in because I applied Jan 7th, which is substantially late. GOSH IM SO EXCITED

But… what if the new major I’ve chosen is not taught in Altoona?

Got accepted for Mechanical Engineering
2070 SAT, awesome essays, really bad school grades.

Then you’ll have to transfer to UP, or a campus that does offer it, after 2 years at Altoona… It’s called the 2+2 plan. Google it!

True dat!

Anyone want to help me out for a second? I didn’t get into SMEAL, unfortunately. But, are you guys aware of what the chances of getting into PSU is if I reapplied as DUS? Pretty much I’m asking what the chances are: DUS vs SMEAL.

Getting into DUS is easier than getting into Smeal. However, don’t reapply, just call them up and ask if you can be reconsidered for DUS. It would be helpful to also say that you are willing to attend summer session (if you are).

When i logged into MyPennState…it showed error occurred
What does that mean
