@zipbags I don’t know if it is normal but my friend checked theirs last night and said under review and then they checked this morning and they had an acceptance so it looks as if they are updating them everyday.
@Dragonfire16 @md1998 You will not find out about scholarships and aid until March. http://studentaid.psu.edu/future-students-timeline
@jlhpsu Thanks! I have heard that PSU doesn’t give out really any type of aid, do you know if this is true? I am really interested in attending PSU but it is out of state and may not be realistic if I don’t get any type of aid since i have a sibling in college and one just got put through college.
@md1998 I wonder if they are trying to go through applications a bit quicker…Or it could be the decisions made during the week and their assistants are just processing everything in the system over the weekend.
@zipbags It does seem they are accepting people a lot quicker this year. Last year it seemed you only got in in November if your stats were super high but I know of a couple people at my school with average scores and already got in. Also I haven’t noticed any correlation between time applied and response. I applied in mid September and got my acceptance on the same day as a friend who applied on halloween.
some programs are not as competitive as others, many OOS, but stats are dropping quickly!
@jihpsu Thank you.
@md1998 and @zipbags I was suprised to see an admission decision this early too. The lady I talked to said desicns wouldn’t be out until late december-to late january. They do also have limited housing though. That’s the case at harrisburg.
@zipbags I got accepted Friday, I dont know about Saturday acceptances.
My niece isn’t on here so I’ll post for her!
Accepted college of earth and mineral science for environmental engineering.
I don’t know her exact stats but she had a 34c ACT and I believe a 4,2 w gpa.
We are excited to have another nittany lion in the family!! I’m also glad she didn’t have to wait as long as my D last year!
speed of decisions. as I posted last year, I strongly suspect 2014/15 admissions was unusually long. the long standing director of UG admissions retired Sept of 2014. It may be that the transition and reappointment of duties may have led to some delays
The new director started started in the spring of 2015. With a new director, there could have been policy changes to speed decisions etc.
@jlhpsu My son got accepted to Environmental engineering as well. Your niece and him may cross path!
@luvthej I hope you are correct.
Question for those who have already received an admissions decision. Have all of you heard after midnight? Just trying to get a sense of when the portal updates (every day, once or multiple times per day, etc.). Thanks!
@dadknowsbest my daughters status changed from verifying credentials to reviewing her documents in the mid to late afternoon. Her status changed from reviewing documents to Accepted after midnight. I had checked at midnight and it said reviewing. Checked at 6am and it said accepted. But my Niece found out she was accepted around 9-10!pm. So I think the status can change throughout the day multiple times. I would always suggest checking first thing in the morning at least.
My son’s friend just got his notice of acceptance - my son is still waiting. Test scores took forever to get there. Waiting waiting waiting. And now not so patiently
@dadknowsbest there was nothing new at 10:30 pm Friday night and early Saturday morning it changed to accepted.
Thanks! My son’s application was submitted in very early October and all materials were received and acknowledged a few days later. Status has been “under review” for over a month now. Great to see acceptances on this forum!!!
I first posted over the weekend and my daughter did indeed get her application in on Sunday. She applied to the College of Engineering, but now I’m having second thoughts about that decision. Would she have a better chance of getting accepted to Fall UP if she had applied to DUS? And then pursue the engineering tract from there? Is the College of Engineering significantly more difficult to get into than DUS? Or do they evaluate her for COE first and if she doesn’t cut the mustard, offer an acceptance into DUS? Should I have her call now and change her school of choice?
Her stats are as follows: 29 ACT, 1850 SAT and a 4.0 (W) GPA, 3.87 (UW) GPA, with a class rank of 1 of 54 at a small Catholic High School. Lots of EC’s too numerous to mention.
@OhBoyChoboy I have the same stats. 4.0 UW GPA 1850 sat and 29 act. 11/137 rank. I applied engineering and got very nervous about the choice and emailed to change to DUS. still waiting to hear back now
