General Comments: I’m so psyched to major in under water basket weaving!

@laneysagan Just be patient! You should be fine and getting a decision within a week or two.
My son got in College of Engineering - Computer Science Fall University Park today - at least we saw it today. Very average stats - 3.75 W GPA, 31 C ACT. All honors and AP classes except English and 800 SATII Math 2 and 800 SAT II Chem. His application was marked complete on Nov 6th or so.
He also got in Ohio State and Purdue today.

Hi I emailed admissions about this and they said - Changing his major now will not impact William’s application processing time. He will remain in our November 30 review group. Please let me know if you would like to make the change.

I applied on october 28th and just got in. 1870 sat score with 3.8w and 3.3 uw gpa. Many honors and Ap classes. Big high school in CT. University Park DUS. Most likely not attending.

Son accepted eberly premed, 1970 SAT, 99.8 w

11 APs, dual college enrolled at PSU senior year

Tons of volunteer, captain soccer
Applied Schreyer

@mmsharp that’s great news for some people who thought they couldn’t change at this point! Must’ve either changed from last year, or they didn’t explain it right to me last year, or it was only pertaining to people who change after a denial. That’s great information for others to have!

The wait is brutal. Not knowing if it can be tomorrow or January 31st.

@DSNJ2016 yep i got my acceptance into the College of Engineering at around midnight last night! thanks though!

@zipbags if your child us middle of the pack, probably January. An admissions worker posted on the PSU Parents fb page that they received 11,000 applications on November 30. That explains the long wait. The number of applications UP receives is staggering. I agree with you, the wait is brutal. Then before you know it, they are gone in college and the time creep until their next visit home begins!

11,000 that’s unreal. Is that just UP or all campuses? Can’t even imagine the process to go through that many.

Does anyone know if it is less competitive to get into IST than engineering? My S just like many others is considering changing either to IST or DUS to get accepted to UP

@crazycat220,
I have no idea about the competitiveness of IST (Information Science Technology, I’m assuming?)
However, if your son still intends to pursue an engineering degree, he should apply to either CoE or DUS. In order to declare a major in engineering after four semesters, he must be enrolled in one of these two colleges.

Has anyone gotten deferred to summer session? what were your stats

I have a 1940 SAT 3.8/4.45 gpa and tons of EC’s and honors. I applied november 12 and I’m nervous that it’s a bad sign I haven’t heard yet. any thoughts?

What school did you apply to?

@zipbags DUS

I applied to Smeal and said yes for the summer option in mid-late October. I go to a small, highly selective private school in Pennsylvania. As of the end of junior year I have a 3.4 weighted GPA and a 28 on the ACT. I’ve taken six honors classes, my school does not offer AP courses. I have excellent activities and great recommendations. The only people in my school that have been accepted so far are people that are extremely over qualified, but of course I am still nervous. I know I could find out any day now, but it could very well be in January too. Also, if I am denied from Smeal am I differed to another program such as DUS? I am not sure how much more competitive Smeal is. Any comments/predictions on my application status would be much appreciated.

@nerual19 are you instate? Or out of state?

@sambloomberg out of state
