PSU Class of 2020 Decision Thread

Congrats @OhBoyChoboy ! Still waiting with hopeful expectation here!

@Nrnjersey124 It does seem to be a lot engineering and mostly out of state. I have almost the exact stats as you & applied to Smeal as well in early October. Like i said in an earlier post, I read through the 2019 thread & this year is following the same pattern.

@jenkath a couple of people that I know that got into Smeal some years back that were definitely qualified didn’t hear until the last week of January. Hopefully we don’t see this trend this year, if so, we’re in for a long wait. Best of luck to you!

DD applied October 10th, UP- DUS, parents alums, OOS, has been under review for two weeks plus - is it usual to have to wait so long?

@Nrnjersey124 good luck to you too! I have heard the same from other Smeal students & last year in the thread January 20 seemed to be Smeal day. I look at it this way… We are one day closer to getting our decision than we were yesterday

@OhBoyChoboy Congrats! That’s awesome!

@Lamboo If you read the previous years threads you will see that it is indeed very common to wait a while. My D waited almost 5 whole months last year (applied Sept 2, notified of acceptance January 26).

@jakeybake The same thing happened to my son with his SS# about a month ago. I was worried it would delay things also but he was fine. His app was in early Oct and he got accepted on Nov. 19. I think his ss# was wrong on SAT so when they got his scores it didn’t match SS# on app. We figured it out after a second school called with same issue. Good luck!

@Lamboo mine has been under review for close to 3 months now. It’s perfectly normal. It could stay that way until January 31st

Can anyone calculate my chance and date to get the admission please??

@john2873 did you put summer as an option? I think your stats fit summer admission more than fall, but it really depends on the competitiveness of the applicant pool. My guess is uou won’t hear until later January as you are on the bubble, but one never really knows when decisions will come!

@jlhpsu no… I did not put summer course. Oh also I am an international student

I sent in my application along with all materials last week and got accepted today. Idk they might be accepting out of state applicants earlier.

@OhBoyChoboy Yay!!! congrats to your daughter!

When does the admission office close for the holidays and how long are they closed? Also, I assume no decisions are released then.

@tmperini and @jphpsu - thanks for the info and reassurance

HI, was just wondering how acceptance or rejection or wait list is posted. Does it show up right on the initial page when you sign in to the portal?

Has there been any rejections or waitlists?

Admissions closes Dec. 23 and will reopen January 4. They usually post this on your page.

What are my chances? 3.15 gpa 1560 sat 1100 out of 1600

Did you put down summer session? Your stats sound like they are good for that! Your gpa may hinder you, but have hope!!
