PSU Class of 2021 Decision Thread

Anyone hear of any rejections?

Accepted to Univeristy Park Smeal Business School.
New SAT 1280
GPA 4.29

Several Penn State acceptances announced by fellow classmates this morning. One of them confirmed that they were accepted into University Park. Unfortunately, still no response for me - my application is still under review. I submitted my application on October 16th.

Also, does anyone know if there is anyway I could email the Undergraduate Admissions Office in order to change my decision for the summer session - or would that only be possible through a phone call?

I cannot wait…Ive wanted to go here since I was 8 years old!!! So happy!

@mdb2251 Congrats! I’m with you there, Penn State has been a dream since I was little as well! Have you already visited?

Can anyone explain DUS a little bit to me? I am curious how it works because since I have a scholarship for Penn State, I got it for aerospace engineering through NROTC. I am pretty sure I have to declare that major at first even though I can request to change it later on. Still no news on my app, I am so nervous about it lol.

@NittanyLion1202 my dad went to penn state and my brother goes there now, so I go up all the time…I really have the campus down pat on where everything is haha…I cannot wait to start.

@Adams21 Division of Undergraduate Studied (DUS) is an undeclared major…Any incoming freshman really cannot declare a major until their 5th semester, and because of this DUS lets kids take the gen eds, while still providing them a path for a major they might want to pursue. Each DUS student is given an academic advisior and they help you all throughout the fours years to help you go from “I have no idea what I want to do” to “I got a major in Computer Science”. I know all of this because my brother is in his sophomore year with DUS at Penn State UP.

@mdb2251 Are you the one on the PSU admissions twitter that got in? Also, when did you apply

Very proud my son was admitted to DUS. Other schools he’s considering: FSU and USoC. My older son goes to FSU and loves it.

@amarz12 yes haha that is me… you could probably tell I’m a little excited. All my materials were in September 13!

Still waiting…everything in by Sept 15th.

GPA: 3.4
SAT: 1430/1600

Applied DUS/Summer

Theater, Sports, Lots EC’s

Frustrating…

Does anyone know when students offered summer acceptance typically hear?

Not sure Summer/Fall matters if you met the Nov 30th deadline…you’ll hear by Jan 31. Just frustrating waiting so long…I guess I’m losing patience!! Happy for those who finally got an answer but when you’re in Top 2% of SAT results. 1430 and they make you wait over 3 months…well u can understand. Just applied to Maryland as primary alternate choice due to waiting so long

@Oneiota Penn State mainly takes GPA into account so those of us with Lower GPA’s but Higher SAT’s will likely be waiting much longer

@kristen44 university park?

Chances for psu UP?
3.7 weighted

General Comments: WE ARE PENN STATE. Admissions are definitely holistic and don’t only care about your GPA as I have heard many times in the past. If you can convey your passion and have a legitimate reason why your GPA is not up to par, there is a high chance that the GPA wont hold you back. If you guys have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
