Does anyone know anyone that ever got accepted into university park or summer session with a 3.0 gpa or lower? asking for a friend (asking again just in case no one saw it)
Has anyone heard about summer acceptance yet?
@nhenry123 the naviance scattergram for my school says 5 people got in with 2.5-3.0 gpa and and sat around the 1100’s. However the location is university park but the name says all campuses
Congrats to those who received their acceptances…what a relief it must be.
Still scratching my head that a 1430/1600 SAT score is still waiting after 3 months…
@nhenry123 I have never seen anyone with a 3.0 GPA or lower get into UP campus, even for summer, without being a recruited athlete. Sometimes someone will post something like that here on this page and then it’s realized they are just trolling. I’ve been here 3 years and haven’t seen it happen. According to the common data set, only 9% of acceptances were between a 3.0 and 3.24 and 3.8% between a 2.5 and 2.999. My guess is those 3% were recruited athletes or other special considerations. Compare that to a branch campus where a full 50% have between a 2.5 and a 3.2 GPA. with a 3.0, the chances are much more likely than anything, even with summer (because the common data set INCLUDES summer with fall admits), that they will be admitted to a branch.
@Oneiota Unfortunately PSU’s application process can be a bit hard to predict from what I’ve read in other years. They don’t do it by “first come, first serve” I don’t think. I’m sure that you’ll be fine with such a good SAT score, but the wait just really is the worst part.
My daughter just checked and saw that she was accepted for Biomedical Engineering. We weren’t expecting to hear this soon since she only applied on Nov. 30th.
Very excited for our daughter received acceptance to College of Nursing for fall 2017.

Amazing Essay
@suzthorn stats?
Has anyone gotten any scholarships or know when we would be notified about them? I know there is almost no scholarship money, but they do have the small Provost award which I’m trying to get.
I gotta admit, it’s a little frustrating seeing people who applied more than a month after you, get accepted before you. “rolling” admissions
@hasannadeem47 It’s actually modified rolling admission. Just means if you applied before Nov 30, you will hear back by Jan 31. My son applied first week of September last year and did not hear back until the last week of January. I know it’s hard but just hang on. You will hear soon enough.
Are my chances increased considering I would be a third generation penn stater with borderline test scores and applying to UDS (and put summer session as an option) ?
@hasannadeem47, I hear ya. When you see a person get notified within 2 weeks of applying that is tough to handle. Going on 3 months now and still waiting. But in the end it forced me to apply to a number of other schools just to be covered. So I just finished apps to Maryland, Ohio State, Villanova and a couple of others. It will be what it will be…
The best plan of action to avoid insanity seems to be putting it out of my mind and not checking the tracker at all until the week of January 31st

It’s been exactly 3 months and 4 days since I last made contact with the Penn State Undergraduate Admissions Office. Waiting for my acceptance letter has been hard, the stress is overwhelming, frustration is eating me inside out, but I’m pushing through! I will not give up until I can proudly say, I’m a Nittany Lion.
