@fall_november888 They do consider legacy but not enough to overcome a lot. If you are borderline, it may help eek you over the edge. They consider legacy in with the 1/3 of “test scores and other factors”, so the biggest factor is still your GPA. You definitely helped yourself by applying undecided and with summer option. That gives you the most advantage. If you don’t get in with that, then you will be deferred to a branch campus - many of which are beautiful and fun and you still go to UP after 2 years - so don’t dismiss it entirely!

PSU generally accepts 80-115 kids from my school. Since I was one of the first to apply, I heard back first.
I applied on october 10th still nothing, applied bioengineering, when can i expect to hear back by? My guidance counselor said 6-8 weeks is what to expect from them and its been about 8 weeks now so should I hear back from them soon? Ughhhh just want to get into a college already…
@averagewhiteguy Your counselor is wrong. The 6 to 8 weeks is only if you apply after November 30. Then you are in the next “wave” which is more of a real rolling admission. Prior to November 30, they are on a modified rolling admission which ONLY means that if you apply by Nov 30, you get a decision by Jan 31. That’s it. 2 years ago, my daughter waited almost 5 full months (Sept 2 - Jan 26) for a decision. That is not atypical. You will hear by Jan 31, hopefully sooner, but definitely by then.
Does anyone have any idea when the final engineering students will receive acceptance? I know that they are usually the first to be notified of admission, but will they still be accepting engineering student in January? or will all engineering students hear back before December??

@ameer_abo I doubt that there’s any specific method. Engineering students naturally have higher stats than others, which is why they tend to hear first. I’m sure there will be high stat engineering students getting accepted well into January.
@averagewhiteguy From what I’ve heard from my friends, the reply date all depends on what school you apply to, however, I know at least 5 engineering students who have heard back. (all accepted) Are you in state or out of state? That may influence the decision timing as well.
Could someone help or give me an idea with what they think I should expect to hear from admissions I have been quietly looking on this site for close to a month comparing myself to others and I just wanted to know what anyone else thought my chances would be for UP it would very much appreciated

@Branflakes4156 You should be fine, Your GPA and SAT are both good for UP.
@hasannadeem47 thank you so much for replying it’s so nerve-wracking waiting
Any idea on what a typical GPA/ test scores would be considered for the summer session at PSU?

Will have taken 5 AP’s when I graduate, and I have taken basically all honors classes throughout high school.
My school does not do class rank.
I honestly do not have any hooks…
I am a white, female, PA resident from a decently well-recognized public high school.
I have several extra currics along with leadership positions.
I am kind of surprised that I was not offered summer admission due to my lacking SAT score (at least compared to what I have seen from others on this site).
Anyway, I am beyond excited to be a Nittany Lion! 249 days until move-in! WE ARE!!

anyone else’s portal not working?
Is it normal to have a PSU EDU address assigned on the application page or is that a good sign of possible acceptance?
