@Oneiota Congrats! What major did you apply to? Also did you get an option to accept either summer or fall or did you only get summer as an option?
I applied for fall and summer, was accepted into the summer. I applied DUS. I thought my SAT score would get me into fall as it’s in Top 25% of admitted students, regardless-very happy
@Beangreene Thank you so much!
@hasannadeem47 CONGRATULATIONS!!! That´s awesome. I expected you´d get in, but of course you never know! If you have any other questions on housing etc…just ask. We´ve all been there!
@oneiota That´s great! Congrats! My daughter had very similar stats as yours 2 years ago and also got in for summer after applying DUS fall with summer option. It was the BEST thing that happened to her. She LOVED summer and says now that she´s so happy she did that. State College in the summer is beautiful and you will love UP during Arts Fest! Congrats again!
@jlhpsu What does summer mean? Do you graduate earlier and do you continue school in the fall?
does anyone know if eberly college of science is harder to get into as a freshman than DUS? I applied biology under eberly with summer option, but am wondering what difference it would make to change to dus and summer. stats are borderline - 3.7 gpa and 1130 sat new.
@jlhpsu thank you, you’re a terrific source of UP information on admissions and the process as well as a sounding board for support. I feel for those still waiting, believe it or not the portal will change one day to acceptance. I waited almost exactly 4 months.
@nj3edu Summer is an option for people who feel either they have borderline stats for UP as a Frosh or want to start in the summer to ease the transition to college. It’s simply 2 classes over a 6 week period then you roll right into fall semester. It’s a strategic move to help your chances of admission by some. That’s all and as some have said it’s a great way to get comfortable with PSU before 40,000 kids show up.
@nj3edu summer is an option on the application. You can either apply directly for summer, or app!y for fall with summer option as a backup. Summer admission is slightly less competitive than fall. So borderline stat kids can put it as a backup and if they can’t get admission for fall they are considered for summer. Its two classes. You could graduate early if you have college credits to bring in with you. The only downside for summer is the additional cost. Its an extra session plus housing. I believe 2 years ago all in it was about 8k for the classes a d room and board instate. OOS will be more. Whether that’s worth it or not is up to each person. For my daughter it was an easy decision and one she does not regret. She could graduate early, but she is doing a minor so she wont .
Congrats to all who were just accepted. I applied EA OOS and sit waiting.
This week I got a postcard saying January 31st is right around the corner and to “hang in there” while waiting for a decision.
It also mentioned that decisions are only posted once a day and the best time is to check first thing in the am.
Good luck to everyone

@2021NH wait what I didn’t get that…
@2021NH Penn State doesn’t offer EA. Do you mean you applied priority?
Has anyone else applied September 1 and still havent heard yet? I am seeing so many people that applied months after me finding out.
My D applied first week of Sept and she has not heard either…
@sportyb Same… I applied the second week of September and still haven’t heard back…
I applied in September for Business and haven’t heard a peep. I’m pretty confident I will get in, it’s sort of a safety, but you never know I might just attend. I don’t like the process though. To have kids hear back in one week while you’ve been waiting for months kind of makes you feel like crap, like they are waiting for a better offer, lol. Oh well, if that’s how they do it, that’s how they do it, but it’s a little off putting. I’m starting to like the 5 schools I’ve been accepted to EA a little better and better as each day passes. I guess hearing early from EA schools makes you a little anxious!! Waiting on Maryland too – that’s another January 31 school. Ugh!!
@CathJR Yes sorry priority sorry I misspoke (typed)
@chuckiem Not sure if its good or bad that I got the postcard, just got to me in NH, not sure where you are located
@sportyb @fabreeze1211 @my2kidsnj the postcard specifically states “We dont release decisions based upon the date you applied. So, even if you know people who applied after you and have already received an offer, know that their admission decision doesnt impact yours.”
Has anyone for Biomedical engineering heard yet? or just any Engineering major yet?
@sportyb yes me!!! I literally applied september first at midnight and havent heard anythint
