@college7865231 Im still waiting for mechanical engineering
Believe me I understand the frustration. I applied Sept 5 and received acceptance Jan 11. I saw many people apply after me who were accepted before me and had lesser SAT scores(though higher GPA’s). All I can offer is hang in there, Jan 31 is only 18 days more. So at least you have an endpoint to the torture!! Good Luck
Ugh! Friend with very similar stats got “hang in there” postcard yesterday in PA. Empty mailbox here yesterday and today. Do they update portal midnight fridays? Or will next notifications wait until Tuesday night/Wednesday morning next week? (Monday MLK - offices closed?)
@Beangreene some will come out tonight. I don’t believe they’re closed for mlk day
They are closed for MLK on Monday…my son is a student there. Hopefully more notifications come out before then!
@pacollege17 DUS is generally the least competitive school to get into. Your 3.7 GPA is good depending on weight scale but your SAT is below the middle 50%. When did you apply? If you applied prior to Nov 30, they likely won´t let you change at this point because decisions are being made. You´d likely get pushed back to the next wave. But you could call and ask. If you applied after Nov 30, it gets even more competitive so I would definitely call and change to DUS if that´s when you applied.
If you applied prior to Nov 30 and you are denied for some reason, you can always call and ask to be reconsidered for DUS and/or summer.
I was accepted into the College of Nursing on Dec. 16. I’m still in complete shock haha. Congrats to everyone who has been accepted and hang in there if you haven’t heard yet, you’ll hear back soon!
I am an international student from South Korea going to school in U.S.
Recently accepted to Penn State. Ask me any question if you want to know more:) happy to help anyone
SAT: 1430/1600
GPA: UW 3.94
Numerous leadership position and hundreds of community service hours.
@jlhpsu thanks a lot for the helpful response! Yes I applied the first week of September and knew that my sat score may hinder my application so I put summer as an option. Two more anxious weeks!
there are no classes on MLK Day, but the University is not on holiday. Admissions will be open and working, as will all the other offices.
When did you applied??
@plzivy5978 When did you applied and what’s your major??
@Moody777 I applied in mid November and I’m in DUS. I wasn’t aware that DUS was the easiest department to get in but I just applied there because I thought that department would best environment where I can change/find/determine my major. Penn State says 80% of their student change their major anyway.
Penn State Admissions Twitter page yesturday (1/13) said…“We are back at it with decisions next Week. Have a good Weekend!” Hopefully many will hear next week. Good luck to all!
So anybody know if Penn State has sent out most of their admissions already or are the admissions and “deferred campuses” truly random and there is still plenty of “main admissions” to come
Son was accepted Thursday to UP Physics, so excited, loves PSU. ACT 34/35, GPA 3.4. APs, lots of extracurriculars, involved in some less common sports, musical theater, interested in astronomy/astrophysics. Applied 10/23. Thanks to everyone for their info on this thread!
@Reit23 two people in my school heard back, one for UP and one for one of the other campuses
Those who have been accepted, where are you notified first? The portal or via email?
@Surya524 The portal is updated every night during the week. It will simply change from under review to a decision, then they subsequently send you a packet via regular mail.
No e-mail for me, Best of Luck to you
portal, email, and then mail
