PSU Class of 2021 Decision Thread

You have to apply again and pick the summer option. If not just to go PSB for two years then transfer to PSU main

@EngineerwannaB7, So you applied to UP and were accepted to PSB? And you did not check Summer as an option at UP?

I didn’t have the option for summer when I applied. maybe because I’m a transfer student?

@bma5435: as long as your app was in by Nov 30, your odds are very very good.
@Oneiota: actually, the bubble chart + knowing course selection criteria + choice of major makes it relatively easy to predict admission.

What is the bubble chart?

@ryankelly101 @Oneiota I applied to college of engineering at UP and was offered admissions at Erie instead. My stats are low GPA: 3.1 uw SAT:1130. I did check off the summer option when I originally applied. I was going to now change to DUS to have the best chance but wasn’t sure if I should call or email admissions about it.

^If you’re really interested in engineering, your best bet is to start at Erie. Odds are high you’d be weeded out at UP if you tried to take the first year classes for engineering.

@beangreene: it’s this coordinate chart with blue, yellow, black “standardized tests-like” circles. You can look at your GPA (x) and score (y) and see whether you’d be admitted, are on the bubble, or not admitted. Then the more competitive your major, the higher you need to be in the “accepted” group. You can look it up.

I agree 100% @MYOS1634 . I don’t think students realize how difficult the weed out classes are at UP.

I am seeing many of you seen the decision but mine still shows in progress. I have applied in Nov. ACT 30, SAT 1400, and 3.2 GPA

@japsmom Math140, Math141 and Phys211 will tell a lot of students very quickly if they selected right major.

@MYOS1634 do you know how competitive Economics BS is?

Does anyone know if they’re only answering people who applied within the Nov. 30 deadline? Or are they answering people who applied after that deadline?

@KitandKaboodle They say on their website if you applied by the Nov 30 deadline you are guaranteed a response by Jan 31, and afterwards they are rolling. They are probably only replying to people who applied before the deadline.

Brutal classes! My straight A high school student was struggling with those weed out classes. She pulled through and made it! She is now a junior majoring in Industrial Engineering. Main campus

OMG I just got accepted!!!
3.25 UW GPA
1280/1600 SAT
Best. Day. Ever. Didn’t think I’d get in due to my GPA.

Accepted fall 2017!! 90 uw gpa 1260 sat. Mathematics major I had a lower sat for math and I did not take calculus this year but I still got in!!!

Eberly College - Premed. Accepted!!!

Sister got rejected with a 3.3 :frowning: feel bad but it’s my dream college too and I’m scared now. She applied DUS under summer

^ that’s where course rigor comes in: How close to 20 AP /honors are you? Did you take 3/4/5 years of foreign language? All three of biology, chemistry, physics? Math through pre-calculus honors? Did you take calculus?
If your GPA is below 3.5 you better have excellent course rigor and/or apply DUS and/or summer.

@jlhpsu I was just admitted to summer session. I was wondering what the average financial cost is and the details surrounding the summer classes. Thanks
