@s19085 Was your application COMPLETE by November 30? That means test scores and transcripts in by Nov 30? If so, then you should get an update by midnight tonight. If your application was complete and you still don’t hear by tomorrow then call and ask for sure. Sometimes students misinterpret the dates that they had stuff in.
Yes! Everything in November 30th! Would you happen to know anything about reapplying and changing to DUS if I do not get accepted to Smeal? I never thought that was a possibility, but I was reading on here that some people were doing that.
@s19085 Basically if you get denied, you can call and ask to be reconsidered for DUS for fall and/or summer. DUS is getting full at this point as well, so they may or may not allow you do that. It will likely depend on how close you were. Penn State doesn’t give a “back up” major which to apply. If you get denied for a specific major, you need to call and ask to be reconsidered. Another alternative is to do Smeal at a commonwealth campus in the 2+2
After being denied for Mech E at main, my son was accepted 2+2 Penn St. Behrend Campus. We drove up this past weekend and it was a GHOST town. We saw maybe 10 students. It was a Sat. but seriously where did they all go?
@MSMead What time of day? Did you go in anywhere? Was it snowing?
I can’t speak for Behrend but at UP, if it’s before about 11 am, precipitating, THON weekend, or during exam season, campus can certainly feel a bit empty on the weekend. They might be sleeping, eating, studying, or at an activity somewhere out of the cold.

@MSMead Behrend in the winter will look empty because everyone stays inside. Behrend gets a lot of snow and it’s cold. Plus it’s not really a walking campus meaning there is not a town nearby that everyone walks to. Kids drive to do things or take other transportation. Also, if it was before like 2pm, many could be sleeping! I know several kids that go to Behrend and they don’t lack for a night life so my guess would be that you just happened to catch it at a time when not a lot of students were around. It is a beautiful campus though. Maybe try to do a tour on a weekday? Behrend Engineering is very highly regarded.
Well after being denied from smeal and calling to be reconsidered for DUS, I am in! I am so excited!!! PSU UP is my dream school. Thank you so much for all the help on this thread. Honestly don’t know how I would have kept my sanity without this. Congratulations to everyone. WE ARE!!!

jlhpsu: The Behrend campus was nice and it was snowing. My nephew goes there and my sister said they don’t wake up until 1pm on Saturday. We were there 12-3. The lack of a walking area is a negative but their engineering facilities are seriously great. They weren’t classrooms, they were actual manufacturing plant sized buildings. But, my son got a 20K scholarship to another state school. We will see what he decides. He wanted main campus.

Am I still considered for early action if i had everything in by november 30 BUT my transcripts were sent on november 30?
I applied September 20th. I have a 3.6 with a 1260 SAT. People with lesser stats have been hearing back and I got worried. I called admissions and they said don’t worry you will hear back by the 31st. Well, I haven’t heard back yet. Now, all of the spots for DUS (which I applied) have probably been filled up. I’m extremely disappointed and hope they can resolve this issue.
would they release more decisions at midnight today as well? Many, including myself, haven’t received their decisions back, although they applied before December.
I called today and was told remaining decisions would be released overnight tonight and early morning hours of tomorrow…after 8am.
@psulove If your transcripts arrived after Nov 30, then I believe you’d be in the next wave. The next wave is truly “rolling” so you would hear by the end of February I believe…but don’t quote me on that.
@psulions17 Don’t worry about the spots being taken up. There are people in April still getting accepted to DUS. It’s harder then, but it happens. ALMOST THERE. You should know very soon! Best of luck everyone. I know this waiting is so difficult.
I don’t think there’s any evidence for that. Think positive, not negative. 
I called admissions yesterday to switch my major to DUS to be reconsidered for UP and they were so busy they told me to just email them my request. Any idea how long that takes to hear back?
