Finally, after speaking to a different counselor in regards to my admissions decision, I’m pleased to say that I’m admitted DUS for fall of 2017. The counselor apologized for what had occured yesterday over the phone and that the decision was surely a mistake. Thank you all for your help and advice!!
@julietxn CONGRATULATIONS! I’m so glad you got in…otherwise, I would be truly baffled! This is why you don’t always take things at face value. Mistakes are made - no one is perfect. SO glad you got it taken care of! WE ARE…!
julietxn SO glad this got straightened out for you!! Definitely worth it to be persistent!!
julietxn, so glad things got straightened out. It didn’t make any sense!
@julietxn That’s certainly good news, it seemed so out of place with your account of what happened. Is PSU your 1st choice?
@julietxn So HAPPY for you! Congrats.
As of this evening, I still have no response. Still says application under review. I had my app in by Nov 30, but I believe my transcripts did not make it there until later. Anybody still waiting, or know when I may hear?
Julietxn is a great example of what it takes to be successful at a big school. You need to know context, know your own information, and be willing to put some time in to resolving things. You can’t ever assume that a mistake hasn’t been made, or the person you spoke to had all the information.
There wasn’t a waitlist last year, there is a waitlist this year. Past PSU practice was an invitation to be waitlisted, but that was a while ago.
THANK YOU ALL!! PSU is my second choice so I’m highly considering in attending!! My first is NYU so I’ll have to see if I get accepted there or not first before committing. Thanks again everyone! Good luck to all those who are still waiting!!
@s19085 similar thing happened to me, I sent in my SAT’s in on time but they did not match them to my portal until after Nov 30th so I was in the next batch to be released, I called and was polite and they released my decision and I got it at midnight 2 days later. Try calling and explaining
@jackoneill thanks so much. I will give a call tomorrow.
@s19085 they had a decision made on it too, just waiting a couple of more weeks to release them.
Do any of you international students know where I can get the counselor form that I am supposed to send with my transcripts?
@julietxn: hope you applied to Schreyer
@greenbutton how do u know there is a waitlist? I emailed and they said there’s no waitlist whatever the decision is it’s final. I wonder if it matters who u speak to since it’s obvious after what happened to Julietxn there are some rude counselors there who don’t really care to help you out
You are talking about two different things. There is no list where you can say, “I didn’t get into UP but will take any spots you have left.” There is a list, called a waitlist, where THEY can say, “These are the people who weren’t accepted but we may accept them later.” It’s a type of decision that many other schools use. Cannot speak to the validity of PSU using it this year but I know my friend got waitlisted from PSU when we applied in 2013-14.
Ok I understand, possible waitlist for those not accepted but no waitlist for those already accepted but hoping to get fall over summer etc
Rejected because I was told I didn’t take the necessary courses in high school to satisfy my program. I’m really confused because I thought I had, and I’ve also been accepted to other much more selective schools like Northeastern and University of Miami so this is a kick to the gut. I will be calling tomorrow to figure out what’s going on. Stats= SAT-2190, GPA-5.15, Rank-6/525
The issue isn’t your stats, which are really good, but the course preparation for your program - with those stats, it seems like you would have them but … what program is that, what are the pre-reqs, and do you have those classes? When you call, ask to talk to a senior admissions counselor. They’re going quickly and making mistakes - could have failed to associate your application with the right transcripts, etc.
Does anyone know when I should hear back? I applied December 21st
