Did anyone hear about scholarship information? Does that come with the admission decision or does it come later?

Later, like in March or so. ^

@flute1298 I did the same with my kids. My son is going to PSU Altoona in the fall (my D is at UP campus), but he was accepted to 2 other schools (IUP and Kent). The admissions offices have a procedure for turning down your spot so that they can make room for others. For IUP it was an online form and for Kent it was an e mail to admissions. I made him do both so that space could open for others. I do think it’s unethical to sit on an acceptance if you KNOW you aren’t going there.

My son was offered alt campus. . . denied main campus. His stats: 1370 and GPA of 3.0. He applied to engineering. Not a big surprise, but want to be helpful to others. He’s out of state/NY.

i applied to UP for Communications in December. My stats are not the best.
Is Communications full?

Applied for Main Campus

Waitlisted.

Stats:
SAT: 1340 English: 600, Math: 740
GPA: 4.0 Unweighted
Rank:7/266
Other stats:44 College credits
State or Country: NY
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: Asian
Gender: Male

How do you already have 44 college credits?

I have taken more than 12 College Courses ( Dual enrollment and AP, and some others)

But, I am sure if they are going to accept all of them.

@ianouba I don’t know if Comm is full, but that’s what my D applied to as well in December. She was waitlisted. GPA - 3.95; SAT 1230.

Checked my application status and received this letter. Does this mean that I am admitted through the 2+2 program and I have can choose any campus or will they give me a list of campuses to choose from? Thanks a lot.

Thank you for applying to Penn State. We have carefully evaluated your academic credentials, and although we cannot offer you admission to the Eberly College of Science with the intended major of Premedicine at Penn State University Park, there are other educational opportunities that await you at Penn State.

Due to limitations on the size of the first-year class at University Park and the exceptionally high caliber of recent applicants, it is inevitable that many good students who demonstrate academic success are referred to start their education at another Penn State campus as part of the 2+2 plan. In fact, this is the most common path to a Penn State degree; more than half of our students spend their first two years at a Commonwealth campus. At the end of their second year, students can choose to transition to University Park to complete their studies without reapplying for admission.

Please visit admissions.psu.edu/campuses to learn more about the unique aspects of each Penn State campus. I hope you will carefully consider which of these campuses may be right for you and contact the admissions staff at that campus or email us at admissions@psu.edu to learn more about your options. I encourage you to call the campus directly if you have any questions. It is important to note that some campuses have limited on-campus housing, so please contact the campuses that interest you as soon as possible.

We will not take any further action on your application until we hear from you.

A great Penn State education is still available to you. Although it may not start out as you had originally planned, I hope you will consider the opportunity to earn a Penn State degree and enjoy the lifetime of benefits it brings. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

You need to choose a campus and send an email asking to be considered for that campus.

I think this is the letter that my son received a couple years ago. He had applied with lower stats for Smeal, and did not check off the option of attending another branch, or summer session. We called and spoke with an admissions counselor, and asked to be reconsidered for Communications. He was accepted for Summer, and decided to attend. He loves Penn State, and is currently a Sophomore doing extremely well in Communications. He is very grateful that he received this letter, as it indicated they saw something in him, but not what he originally thought.
Would you consider changing your major or attending another campus or starting in Summer?

Got admitted to Mechanical engineering at University park, I have a doubt, the major and the line is fixed or do I have to apply after enter two years for the major?

@bodangles ^

@Mech123 You will follow your recommended academic plan (https://rap.psu.edu/mechanical-engineering-university-park) and get a C or better in these courses (https://advising.psu.edu/entrance-major-requirements-college-engineering-2017) as well as a GPA requirement (currently 3.20 but check again when they upload the page for people entering Fall 2017). You will then apply for your major, probably during your third or fourth semester.

Note: it’s not much of an application process. If you have the courses and the GPA, you’re guaranteed a spot.
