@MYOS1634 Yeah, I’ve consistently gotten high 90s in my English classes throughout high school – all of which are honors or AP.
I also scored a 710 on the CR part of my SAT, so that probably played a role in my early acceptance, too.
Thank you!! I’m super excited! PSU is one of my top choices

Portal changed to in review on Monday, pleasantly surprised she got acceptance today as I wasn’t expecting decision for another 3-4 weeks.
Her most B’s were in freshman year. I think her coursework rigor and upward trend in GPA helped, even with just average test scores. I am glad colleges look beyond just test scores, unlike our state flagship university that has a top ranked engineering/CS program where test score is pretty much everything.
@Psuguy1818 Congrats!! I told you it’d all be worth it once you got that acceptance, right!? Now the next 8 months will FLY by and you will be at UP before you know it.

@jlhpsu Good afternoon! I’ve read a lot of your post on this blog and I know you have an extensive knowledge about Penn State’s admission process. I was wondering if you could hopefully advise me what would be the best thing to do. I’m a OOS(Georgia) applicant with a 3.9W GPA, 28 ACT ,6 AP’s, 2 honors, and ranked 130/334(public school that is ranked top 15 in state). I have a ton of extracurriculars as well. I applied to Penn State’s Elberly College as a pre med major and I was wondering if I should change my major to DUS to increase my chances of getting in?
@PenState7317 it’s best to ask this on another thread as this is a decision thread. DUS is usually considered easier to get into than eberly… if you get denied (which I think is unlikely with your stats) you can always call and ask to be re-evaluated for DUS. If you want to play it safe then you can just call and have them change your application. There is no advantage to applying to a specific major vs DUS as you don’t even declare your major until your junior year and can pick what ever you want.
I submitted my application in mid October for Main Campus and also selected the summer semester as an option to increase my chances, how strong at my chances to get in?
GPA: 4.0
SAT: 1200/1600
Rank: Top fifth
Extracurriculars: Lots of community work, varsity track and football team captain, also was in an outdoorsmen club for four years
Took all the maths, English’s, sciences, and history’s required, only have Spanish 1 with a 97% but it said you can correct this deficiency by passing a world language class while your there at PSU before you graduate.
How do my chances look? Thanks!
