As upsetting as the Penn State process is to many, try to keep it in context. There are plenty of schools who don’t release decisions until March or April regardless of when you apply.
The longest you wait at Penn State is 5 months and that’s if you apply on day one and hear on the last day.

They aren’t typical rolling admission. They are modified rolling, meaning apply by a certain date and hear by a certain date. They explain it up front so i think it’s fair. The problem comes when people don’t pay attention to the way it’s always been done and expect that it will be different for them and then get frustrated when the decisions appear random.
This is ‘big school’ life. No hand holding, they aren’t going to beg you to come because if you don’t want to, there are 10 others behind you who would be happy to.
Everyplace has a process. It’s part of the learning curve.
Hang in there! Almost there!

Has anyone here gotten invited to For The Glory? If so, do you know much about it? How many students get asked? I got an invitation a couple weeks ago (accepted about three weeks ago) and it says it’s for top admitted students, but I’m skeptical.

In total agreement about processes @jlhpsu. I think the concern due to the SRAR snafu was to the accelerated nursing, dental, medical, etc. programs, because historical notification was pre break or before year end, maybe.

Denied from University Park (summer session)
Accepted to Altoona Branch

3.38W GPA
(Almost all honors and AP classes)
1260 SAT

State/Country: Pennsylvania
(One of the top ranked public schools)
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Male

Essay: Decent
Recommendations: None
ECs: Nothing special

Hook: Sister is a current Junior at UP

Not super surprised considering Penn State only looks at GPA for admissions. Can’t really blame them when there’s that many applications.

Has anyone decided that they are going to accept their offer of admission?

So my application just went under review a couple days back and of course there is a break so I won’t be hearing until after the admissions office returns :frowning:

Daughter received an invitation to “For the Glory” & we are going. Should be fun & informative. We also paid her deposit.

Accepted a couple weeks ago to University Park for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
3.75 uw GPA with many APs and Honors classes
1440 SAT 710 Molecular Biology SAT2
OOS (Michigan)
ECs include state position in key club, started a community service club to give people with disabilities the opportunity to do community service, and work part-time as a shift-lead at a sub shop.
Need to make a decision between Penn State, Pitt, and Alabama (offered 19K a year)
I’ll be attending admitted students day February 12th (I think) for the blue track school of sciences. I’m excited! Congrats to everyone who got in!

Accepted into Brandywine on 12/9 for the Division of Undergraduate Studies!

D1 still waiting as the rest for Nursing.
3.96 weighted GPA. 28 ACT. Lots of AP and Honors
Accepted to PITT and Ohio State. Would hope and assume PSU is a match. We shall see. Good luck to all

I applied in October and still haven’t heard back…

@Collegedad33 - We are in the same boat as you! DD has a 4.0 UW, 1260 SAT and all honors and AP classes. She was accepted at Pitt’s Nursing program as well, but PSU is her first choice. The wait is killing her, and possibly causing me some stress as well  Good luck to your daughter!

@carwood D was accepted to PSU - University Park College of Nursing (her stats are back on page 19) - she paid her deposit last week. Have received lots of scholarships to other schools but this has been her dream since 10th grade…WE still havent heard from several schools including her other big ones UDEL, UPITT (wants mid year grades) UCONN and Rutgers. Regardless of their decision - WE ARE PENN STATE!

That great! Happy for her. We will keep checking the portal. I think the excellence of PITTs nursing would be tough for my D to pass on but I think the lure of Penn state would be hard to pass on too!
We shall see what happens in the days to follow. Hoping for fhockeymoms D as well

My D applied in Nov for the 8 year medical program with a second choice to the Immunology program. Does anyone know when these results will come out

Applied to smeal undergrad on 5th dec. My SAT scores reached 17th dec. My checklist items are complete but my application is still not under review. Just wanted to know how all this works, like when can i expect decision?
