PSU Class of 2022 Decision Thread

@Anxiousmom12, I got into Smeal on 12/18

UW GPA:3.9 W GPA 4.35
ACT:35
6 APs
I go to the best STEM school in the country, so almost everyone that applies from my school gets in. Last year, Naviance data said that 48/50 kids got in. Even people with pretty low gpas get in from my school

@JeBronLames congratulations!

Hello people, here is my case… In the portal it still says “Your application is currently under review. We have received everything required to complete your application. Once a decision is made, it will be posted here.”. But under MyPennState Profile, there are only two bars: Transfering credit tool and schedule a visit. Is this normal? I think I had more two bars before.

I have one more for Millennial Scholarship Application but that is just for STEM majors.

@Joezzzzz My son’s page looks exactly the same as yours. As to whether or not that is the norm, I have no idea.

Does anyone have a FAFSA associated with their Penn State Profile? I submitted mine back in October, but it says that it doesn’t have it.

@JeBronLames For my son, it says they have received his FAFSA.

Hi my application has been under review since early December so I was wondering if anyone is in the same boat as I am? Also has anyone gotten admitted into the Nursing College? If so what are your stats??

@Menmar I’ve seen a few acceptances on this thread for nursing. My daughter who applied sept 1 last year didn’t get her nursing acceptance until 12:01 on 2/1. I feel for you…it’s a very frustrating process.

@menmar
Daughter accepted to Penn St Nursing Program - University Park on 12/9 - applied in October

Stats:
SAT: 1260 (1280 superscore)
GPA: 4.0 weighted
In all math and Science courses - no GPA lower than a 102%
(took 2 High school classes in 8th grade that pulled her gpa down a little)
Rank: Does not rank - probably top 10%
2 APs; 8 Honors; 4 IB

Location: OOS NY (dad lives in PA)
School Type: IB Public School

Other factors: Varsity cheer team, 2 clubs, work part time throughout the year since 9th grade; Counselor at YMCA sleep away camp

Hang in there - my daughter’s friend was accepted to UDEL nursing and we still have head nothing - there seems to be no pattern to decisions - thankfully Penn is her 1st choice

Portal changed to “your application has been updated. Please check back soon for a status update.”

Is this normal?

Applied to Smeal
Stats:
SAT:1380
GPA:4.67W
All honors and APS

Location: in-state
School type: Strong PA public school
Alumni: Father attended and sister currently in Smeal

Other factors: 4-year job, tennis team, multiple clubs

My D is still waiting as well for nursing. Accepted to PITT and Ohio State but still holding out hope for PSU
OOS (Ma)
28 ACT
3.92 W GPA.
NHS, 2 varsity sports, lots of AP and Honors plus EC activities.
Good luck to all still waiting

My daughter is also still waiting on nursing. Applied in Oct. For the nursing people, what do your kids think about spending a year at Hershey?

I’m not loving the idea but my D doesn’t seem to care about going to Hershey for a year. She said “she’ll be with all my friends anyways so it’s not that big a deal”. If excepted we still need to see the campus and facilities.
She toured and got into PITT which seems like the better fit for nursing with all the UPMC facilities on campus and near by but she likes the PSU rural campus idea better. Will be a tough choice if accepted

I’m also waiting to get a decision from Smeal.
Sat: 1380
GPA: 3.65 W
OOS
Decent amount of extracurricular activities

@JeBronLames My son has 2 boxes one says that it is recommended that you apply for FAFSA and the other one right underneath says financial aid check list …no action needed.
@tonypa is that how yours looks ?

I have twin boys who have submitted their application on the same day (11/30). My son who is majoring in psychology was accepted a couple of weeks ago. My son who is applying to SMEAL as pre major business administration still has his SRAR as received and not completed. Are others in the same situation for SMEAL (waiting for SRAR to be completed since 11/30?)
I’m trying to figure out this process as first time parent with two going to college

@Mcjc626 @JeBronLames I started a Financial Aid - FAFSA Discussion thread to keep the peanut butter out of the chocolate…

http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/penn-state-university-park/2046332-financial-aid-fafsa-discussion-p1.html?new=1

@Mcjc626 that is exactly what mine shows, recommend you apply for FAFSA and no action needed in the checklist.

@JeBronLames We also submitted back in October and our financial aid section says “You do not currently have action items for the financial aid process. Please monitor your checklist for updates.” Is that what yours says?

@tonypa where does it say that yours was received?
