PSU Class of 2022 Decision Thread

We have been under review for over 2 months. It is 100% random - you will hear between now and January 31.

@gcnorth is your D taking dual enrollment through a psu campus? If so you would think admissions would have access to them…and pitt is doing similar with reporting semester grades…

@A1A1A1 yes, my D heard today (Saturday)

@gcnorth The same thing happened to me on December 1st and I immediately called the office of admissions. I spoke to an admission counselor and they told me they don’t look at the number of college credit/dual enrollment credits/college transcript to come up with a decision. Instead, they use this information for scheduling if an offer is extended to the applicant. The admission counselor actually checked off the box for me and it said “Wavied” instead of “Completed”. Overall, it’s nothing to worry about and your daughter will still be considered a priority applicant if she applied by November 30th.

If you know you’ve taken enough math credits, and you get a message saying you can’t be admitted because you haven’t , I think you should call admissions and make sure there’s not been a mistake.

How long does it take to receive our mailed acceptance package? OOS

@confused6789 my admission decision was posted on Tuesday, December 12th (I think, that’s when I checked it) and I got my acceptance packet Friday, December 15th

D accepted today to University Park – College of Health & Human Development w/ a major in Kinesiology. Applied early September
ACT 29
SAT 1340
WGPA 3.9 with many honors and AP classes
Very good extracurricular activities and volunteer hours
OOS: Virginia
Very good public school
White Female
Sister Legacy

@jkb2600 The admissions office is open on saturdays?

I’m relatively new to Penn State discussions, but it seems like the decisions are made Monday through Friday, the portal refreshes overnight, and the students that check the portal daily see the new decisions Tuesday through Saturday.

@nikolateslaxi I believe D’s acceptance this morning was from the portal being updated at midnight Friday p.m. see @tonypa

@NursingMan, Thank you! That’s great to know. Since admissions is closed over the weekend we emailed DD’s guidance counselor, who also confirmed that they don’t need the college transcript for an admissions decision. Hearing about your first hand experience is much more of a relief though. Hopefully it means that they are strongly considering her for admission. Have you gotten your admission decision yet?

@krabbiek, no, she is taking dual enrollment classes with St. Johns University.

@confused6789 My daughter received her acceptance on 12/9 and the package arrived via mail about 1 week later. You can print the acceptance letter from the portal. The package did not include financial aid - hope this helps!!

hello i am new to this thread but I applied in mid/late November as an out of state student and still haven’t heard back. is there anyone who is also still waiting/ does anyone know when I should hear back?

@dfeuerzeig hii, i am OOS too and haven’t gotten a decision either. If you applied until Nov 30, they will have your decision out until Jan 31. It is completely random so you can get it in the next few days or in the last week of Jan. Just keep on being positive and it will soon arrive

My son applied before November 30th…

His GPA is not very high- 3.61W
SAT 1370
ACT 31

We are OOS in CT. Does he have a chance to get into University Park? I know GPA is 2/3 of the decision. Anyone on here have a son or daughter with a low GPA get in to University Park?

@Jazzygirl17 my daughter applied 11/1 with similar stats-same SAT score, but her GPA is slightly higher @ 3.75W and she didn’t take ACT. We are in CT also and she was accepted to Univ Park last month. She does have EC’s-2 sports, Varsity all 4 years, Captain, volunteer work, etc.

@Jazzygirl17 , for most majors, your kid should be fine. If you are really worried , and he’s willing, consider letting them know you’ll start in summer.

My son received his acceptance on a Saturday (probably overnight upload as previously noted)

When do we get notified about Schreyer Honors College or the Millennium Scholars Program?
