@MYOS1634 Yes you’re right it makes me unique. I use only my phone to access everything. Plus how do you know so much about all of these things about Penn State? Are you on staff there?
@adviceneeded7 Good luck to you! Let us know what the outcome is so that others can benefit in the future!

As indicated upthread, I deal with college admissions every day :), and Pennsylvania has a lot of colleges students are interested in (it’s on my patch, basically).
does anyone know when PSU starts sending out financial aid packages?
@Thinkofalogin What major did she apply to? If it was a competitive major, you can just call and ask to be reconsidered for DUS and summer if you are willing to do that. Otherwise, if she applied DUS, then there isn’t much she can do other than offer to start summer.
My daughter was accepted Nursing at University Park College in early December (her stats are back on page 19 if anyone wants to compare). I am certain that at some point the picture changed to the Nittany Lion then back to the campu. Please dont place a lot of weight on that being a negative sign. Best of luck to all of you! So hard waiting…
A few reminders:
To all of the people getting denials and are upset/confused because your gpa was higher than someone who got in. Keep in mind that GPA’s are calculated differently between different schools. It is virtually impossible to compare one student’s GPA from one high school to a student with the same GPA at another school. I’ve seen people get denied with a 4.0 GPA and it was because of the way their school weighted. Penn State is looking for rigor. So if your school generously weights, they do you no favors at Penn State because your GPA may be lower once Penn State normalizes the GPA. Also if you have a 4.0 but it’s out of a 5.0 scale, that does not equal someone with a 4.0 out of a 4.0 scale.
I know it’s frustrating, but it is true that you cannot compare yourself to someone else’s GPA. So save yourself some stress and accept that because I’ve seen kids get so upset because they weren’t accepted but someone else with lower stats was. They go on for appeals (which by the way, formal appeals rarely work - changing major, starting campus appeals sometimes do work).
Also, if you are going for the ‘reconsideration’ route, be aware that you are put back in the pack and you will not get your decision until after all of the priority decisions have been made. They won’t move you into DUS before someone who applied DUS in September. You will only find out after everyone who applied priority has a decision for that major. That’s why @japsmom said that DUS may be full. That doesn’t mean it’s full now. Just means by the time they get around to reconsidering it may be full. One trend I’ve seen over the last two cycles is the number of people applying DUS to get into harder majors is increasing, so it’s getting harder and harder to get into DUS. It is probably easier to get into liberal arts majors at this point than DUS - but of course, you can’t get into Smeal or other majors from a liberal arts major…Be careful trying to change your major just to get in. You may not have the options you think once you are there. Smeal admits are from Smeal or DUS only. Other schools are the same. Do your research before you change.
Lastly, listen to posters such as MYOS, Greenbutton, Bodangles, myself and others who have been here for years and have seen the process up close. They usually have good advice and know a thing or two to save you some headaches!
looks like a lot of decisions came out today across all streams including DUS and summer option. I am still waiting to hear for my D .Hopefully should hear some good news soon.
After starting this thread and waiting patiently for months I am happy to say my son just received his acceptance
to University Park today. Good luck to all still waiting. Thank you to @jlhpsu for all of your helpful comments on this thread and also 3 yrs ago when I was following that thread waiting for my daughters acceptance while you were also waiting for yours.

Wow-so many acceptances today and congratulations to all!!! This waiting game is killing me, I applied in early September for Nursing at UP & still have yet to hear back! I’ve only seen a few acceptances on here for nursing, is there anyone else that’s gotten accepted for nursing?
I thought I got into University Park for Smeal, but only to find out that I got into Erie. I was very disappointed as I continued reading the acceptance post. Yes, it’s good that I got into a campus, but I’m not paying more than 30k a year to go to a campus I don’t want.
@futureCollege321:

She applied to Smeal. She has a 30 ACT 3.95 WGPA. 3.55 GPA. Heavy leadership and extracurricular activities. We’re a little heartbroken tonight because It doesn’t sound like DUS is that hopeful and honestly I’m not sure it is her best option because she was directly admitted to Kelley and Fisher.
Congrats to all

Is there anything I can do at this point to be re-evaluated for UP? Confused as lower stats have been getting into UP
@lou4455 , honestly your stats look great. At a loss as to why they wouldn’t accept . Did you double check to see if they recommend certain course in high school for that major? Were you able to get to Calculus? Did you have several AP/honors courses? Either that or they had a heck of a lot of premed-types apply this year who also put biology down. Maybe call and ask them.
anyone knows when is the financial aid awards coming out?
Need some advice- daughter got denied today. She’s got a 4.6 gpa, 1220 SAT, top 10% of class, all honors and AP classes, 4 year varsity Cheer captain , NHS, clubs, 14 years competitive dancer, lots of volunteer hours, part time job. Applied as bio major. Accepted to UPitt, UDel, and JMU - can admissions make a mistake? What would you do? Appreciate any thoughts.
When do you think the next set of decisions will be released?
