PSU Class of 2022 Decision Thread

Can someone help with this question …I didn’t think we could submit letters of recommendation but some of the responses are leading me to believe we are able to submit them. Did I miss something?

“Penn State does not require letters of recommendation, nor are they used in a student’s evaluation (unless required for a specific program).”
http://admissions.psu.edu/info/future/firstyear/apply/

@colonel2018 you only need to submit them if you are applying to the honors college or applying for one of the special programs like @bodangles mentioned

That’s what I though but we’d like to submit them if possible! Is it possible?

Also in my application status, it says “requested” next to the SRAR requirement. When I click the question mark, it says I need to submit my SRAR by clicking the blue SRAR button…but there is no such button available for me to click. I sent an email asking why it says this because I submitted my SRAR with my application on 11/20. I did not receive a response. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

It says they won’t use them if you do send them, so no, not for general admission.

Thank you bodangles!

@colonel2018 I believe ours read requested with no blue button, then received and finally completed. But since it’s so close to the deadline, I’d probably double check to be safe.

Thank you!

The website for the PSU portal isn’t loading for me. It’s just a white page. Anyone else?

Me too. This happened last week.

The SRAR never said “completed” like the other two items until my daughter’s status changed to “your application is under review”. I emailed a few times to check on that to be sure we weren’t missing anything, but they said it will change when the status changed, and it did. Unfortunately that was 3 weeks ago, and still nothing about acceptance. But, last week she got an email from her college she’s choosing requesting she apply to the honors college. Doesn’t make ANY sense. Her stats are pretty good, but not top %, and apparently not high enough to get an acceptance from UPark yet like others posted here. It’s so much extra work for something that most likely won’t happen, but now she has to do it or look lazy (in her opinion). They keep telling us they have everything they need but just to be patient as some letters just will not go out until January. So much for that well known rolling admission.

Schreyer admissions are completely separate from regular admissions. I highly doubt the major/college she applied to would even be told if she’d applied to Schreyer or not.

I applied as a Special Education major, does anyone know how competitive it is to get into University Park as an Ed major? 24 ACT, with great extracurriculars, and 3.4 unweighted GPA. Also, I live in PA.

@wcgch2p depends on your weighted gpa but a 24 seems too low. I would say 25 is really the lowest you can get without having to have an abnormally high weighted gpa to compensate. Apply DUS and Summer for your best chance.

What are my chances of Acceptance(IN STATE). My GPA is 3.89 Weighted, my Sat is 1210 and my ACT is 25. I’ve taken 6 AP classes(AP Euro, APUSH, AP STAT, AP Computer Science Principles, AP Macro, and AP Calc AB). I applied to DUS with summer sessions as an option.

My DD was accepted to University Park (no summer session). Her portal changed sometime between yesterday and just now.

GPA: 4.0 UW, 4.95 W
RANK: her HS doesn’t rank
SAT: 1550 (one sitting)
ACT: n/a
STATE: PA
CLASSES: over 20+ AP/Honors classes
MAJOR: Environmental Resource Management
APPLIED: 10/18/17

@psudude1234 pretty high I’d say.

@Psuguy1818 my weighted GPA is a 3.9 and I have taken 4 AP classes.

How long does it take to make a decision after it say “Your application is currently under review”?
